In celebration of Magic: The Gathering's 30th anniversary, Wizards of the Coast announced its plans to collaborate with popular video game franchises for the Universes Beyond series. As part of this announcement, they confirmed upcoming crossovers between the card game and the Fallout and Final Fantasy franchises. The respective cards for these crossovers will be released in 2024 and 2025. Additionally, fans can look forward to the arrival of Fallout Commander Decks in Magic: The Gathering in March 2024.

To achieve this goal, Wizards of the Coast has recently unveiled the forthcoming cards for its Magic: The Gathering collaboration with the Fallout franchise. As per the announcement, the crossover will feature four Commander Decks named Scrappy Survivors, Science!, Hail, Caesar, and Mutant Menace, each representing crucial aspects of the Fallout universe, including Survival, Technology, Military, and Mutants. These decks will showcase the eerie and perilous landscapes of the post-apocalyptic franchise, while narrating the tales of an atom-punk alternate reality America. Additionally, they will offer Pip-Boy framed cards for avid Fallout enthusiasts to appreciate.

The Scrappy Survivors Commander Deck showcases Dogmeat as its commander, with a focus on scavenging for tools, Food tokens, and allies. It introduces Junk tokens which players can sacrifice to draw cards. On the other hand, the Science! Commander Deck centers around high-tech energy weapons, scientists, synths, and pre-war robots. Led by Fallout 3 and Fallout 4's Madison Li, this deck allows players to play artifacts in order to generate energy, a returning mechanic in line with the Fallout franchise.

In the Hail, Caesar Commander deck, Fallout: New Vegas' Caesar takes the lead, with cards that revolve around wasteland raiders and leaders of Fallout's militant factions and their soldiers. This deck enables players to utilize the squad mechanic to create additional token copies of creatures, emphasizing an aggressive playstyle. Lastly, the Mutant Menace Commander Deck revolves around the dangerous, powerful, and unusual mutated creatures found in the Fallout franchise, such as Feral Ghouls. Led by Fallout 76's Mothman, this deck utilizes Radiation tokens to either enhance the creatures within the deck or impact opponents.

The Fallout franchise's collaboration with Magic: The Gathering marks the debut of a sci-fi, post-nuclear theme in the card game's lineup. Fans of both franchises will be delighted by how Wizard of the Coast seamlessly adapted Fallout into a captivating card game experience.
