Which arcs appear in the One Piece live-action adaptation?
The first six arcs of One Piece are covered in the live-action series, that being the entirety of the East Blue Saga. The arcs are as follows:
The Romance Dawn Arc: Episodes 1 & 2
The initial arc showcased in the live-action adaptation of One Piece depicts the franchise's very first arc. In this storyline, a seven-year-old Monkey D. Luffy forms a bond with the Red Hair Pirates and makes a pledge to their leader, Shanks, vowing to become an exceptional pirate. Following a decade, Luffy embarks on his journey, encountering Koby and facing off against the ruthless pirate named Alvida. Additionally, he engages in a fierce confrontation against the oppressive Marine Captain Morgan, alongside the renowned "Pirate Hunter" Roronoa Zoro, eventually leading to an alliance between the two.
The Orange Town Arc/Organ Islands Arc: Episodes 1 & 2
The next chapter unfolds as Luffy and Zoro embark on a directionless voyage to Orange Town, which happens to be in the clutches of the mischievous pirate Buggy. It is there that Luffy encounters Nami, a cunning thief with a penchant for targeting pirates, whom he eventually convinces to join his crew as their skilled navigator.
The Syrup Village Arc/Gecko Islands Arc: Episodes 3 & 4
The third arc of One Piece introduces Luffy, Zoro, and Nami as they arrive at Syrup Village in search of a ship. Here, they encounter Usopp, a local village resident known for his tendency to lie and cowardice, and his wealthy companion, Kaya. However, unbeknownst to them, there are sinister pirates disguised within the village, and a malicious plot targeting Kaya is soon unveiled.
The Baratie Arc/Sambas Region Arc: Episodes 5 & 6
The Straw Hat Pirates make their way to the restaurant ship Baratie, where they encounter Chef Sanji. Impressed by his culinary skills, Luffy invites Sanji to join their crew as the cook. However, their peaceful meal is disrupted when the restaurant comes under attack. At the same time, Zoro confronts his greatest swordsman rival, Dracule Mihawk. Meanwhile, Nami betrays her fellow crewmates, abandoning them and setting sail on her own.
The Arlong Park Arc/Cocoyasi Village Arc: Episodes 7 & 8
Nami's ancestral village, Cocoyasi Village, becomes the destination for the Straw Hat Pirates as they relentlessly pursue her. Astonishingly, this idyllic haven is under the tyrannical control of the infamous Arlong Pirates, a vicious group of Fish-Men that Nami shockingly aligns herself with. It is in this crucial moment that Nami's true past and motives are unveiled, compelling her former comrades to courageously band together and liberate not only Nami but also her beloved village from the clutches of Arlong.
The Loguetown Arc/Polestar Islands Arc: Episode 8
This brief storyline, which receives little attention in the live-action adaptation of One Piece, depicts Luffy and Shanks rejoicing over the creation of Luffy's personal wanted poster. Meanwhile, the Straw Hats embark on a new voyage across the sea, with other pirates pledging to pursue them.
One Piece live-action: What’s next?
Now, the live-action adaptation of One Piece introduces certain alterations to the story arcs, as is customary in most adaptations. For instance, plot details are interchanged between arcs, certain characters make appearances in arcs where they were not present before, and some characters exclusive to specific arcs are omitted entirely.
Following the confirmation of One Piece Season 2, it is anticipated that the series will pick up where it left off, progressing with the Arabasta Saga as the next arc to be adapted.
