In Stardew Valley's Update 1.5, players can now explore a new zone called The Ginger Island. On this island, there is an NPC named Professor Snail, a peculiar archaeologist who has been stuck in a cave near the Dig Site for several months. After being rescued, Professor Snail reveals that he has spent a year studying the island's flora and fauna.

Found in the north-central part of Ginger Island is the Island Field Office, a small green tent where Professor Snail carries out his work after being freed.

The Island Surveys

The Professor quizzes players during his Island Surveys and rewards them in return. The surveys are displayed on the wall at the rear of the Island Field Office. They ask players to indicate the precise number of purple flowers or purple starfish that can be spotted on Ginger Island. The accurate response to each question is as follows:

Survey Questions Answer
Number of Purple Starfish 18
Number of Purple Flowers 22

Thankfully, regardless of the situation, the answers to these inquiries remain consistent. Alternatively, individuals have the option to manually tally the quantity of purple starfish and purple flowers on Ginger Island, although this can prove to be a laborious process.

Players are allowed to submit a response only once per day. However, if they get it wrong, they have a chance to try again the next day.

Rewards

Players who correctly answer each Island Survey will receive One Golden Walnut as a reward. By successfully completing both Surveys, players can earn a total of Two Golden Walnuts. Golden Walnuts serve as the local currency for the Parrots on Ginger Island.

Players have the chance to not only finish the Island Surveys but also complete four distinct fossil collections: Large Animal, Frog, Bat, and Snake. Each of these collections grants players with several Golden Walnuts. Professor Snail plays a crucial role in aiding players in locating fossil remains by offering helpful hints to complete the skeletons.

To obtain a clue regarding the whereabouts of a donation item, players can select the "Hint" option on the donation interface.

After finishing all four fossil collections and two Island Surveys, players will receive the crafting recipe for The Ostrich Incubator as a reward.

Stardew Valley can be played on various platforms including Mobile, PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
