Players take on the role of Olle, a young boy on a quest to find his lost sister. Traversing through perilous levels, players encounter a multitude of puzzles and challenges that evoke a similar experience to the acclaimed Little Nightmares series.

Each of the Storybooks narrates a tale that holds relevance to the rest of the game, contributing to the further expansion of the world's lore. Those players who successfully gather all the storybooks will be duly rewarded with the "Book Worm" achievement.
The first storybook can be easily located and is crucial for advancing the game's main storyline. After the opening cutscene, Olle wakes up to discover his sister is missing. In the Children's bedroom, players will encounter various interactive elements such as the painting, toy soldiers, and the door. Moreover, on the table, there is a storybook that players can read. It is positioned towards the lower side of the room.
Nacken's Pond
: A young girl, disregarding her parents' bedtime stories, flees from home. She ventures into the depths of the forest, vanishing forever. Once immersed in the narrative of this book, players can subsequently embark on their own journey, stepping out through the bedroom window and entering the enchanting embrace of the woodland.With Lillemor being held captive by a troll, Olle embarks on a solo journey through Nacken's Pond. Prior to facing the intimidating musical creature, players will be guided through a labyrinthine cave system where they stumble upon a decaying skeleton. By interacting with this skeletal remains, players can discover the second storybook.
This book delves into the haunting origins of the infamous spirit, Nacken, unravelling the dark history that shaped his malevolent existence. Oppressed by the townsfolk who constantly tormented him, he resorted to playing forbidden melodies imbued with curses that brought untimely demise to the entire town, claiming even his beloved. Consumed by remorse, he sought solace in the depths of the lake, where he now resides, using his haunting violin to lure unsuspecting children to their doom.
The Swamp
The third book is discovered in the course of the Swamp level, just before encountering one of the most unsettling scenes in the game, where a witch/mother sacrifices a baby. This particular book can be located on the lower floor of a room, with the agonizing cries of the baby heard from upstairs. It is positioned atop a chest on the right side of the room.
The Library
This book, among the collection, is arguably the most extraordinary. Instead of telling a conventional story, it delves into the mysterious world of occult rituals. As one delves into its pages, an eerie and demonic voice can be heard reciting ancient incantations, accompanied by haunting images of the enigmatic Baphomet and a chilling depiction of an alchemy-inspired human sacrifice. Upon thoroughly examining the book, readers will unveil a concealed lever that is cleverly hidden beneath its cursed pages. By pulling this lever, a hidden mechanism will be activated, allowing one to ascend to the second floor.After maneuvering through the daunting Swamp level, players will find solace in the Library, where a benevolent troll-like creature awaits. It is easily noticeable, positioned atop a parapet in the center of the room, and players must engage with it in order to progress the storyline.

This book narrates the harrowing tale of King Nils and his family, unveiling the tragic events that unfold with the birth of a young successor who bears a striking resemblance to Olle, only to be afflicted by a sudden illness. In a desperate quest for a cure, the King embarks on a savage witch hunt, unleashing unspeakable cruelty upon countless innocent women. The shocking visual depictions showcased in these pages attest to the heinous acts committed. Additionally, this volume offers a vital clue on how to overcome the final challenge, hinting at the source of the boss's power originating from the corpses impaled on the surrounding trees. To conquer Skogsra, players must eradicate these macabre remnants.The initial discovery in the Plague Village leads to an intriguing find within the remnants of a desolate schoolhouse. Amidst the dimly lit chamber filled with various interactive objects, a captivating storybook lies concealed on a modest wooden desk nestled in the far-left corner.

This narrative unravels the origins of Skogsra, an exceptionally formidable boss in the game, and her deceptive prowess in luring the menfolk of this modest community towards their tragic demise. Consequently, as a retort, every female inhabitant within the village was once again mercilessly slaughtered; nonetheless, despite this extensive purging, the wicked and supernatural entity persists, refusing to subside.
Located in the deceased woman's house, nestled on a modest bookshelf, lies the second installment of the Plague Village series. Uniquely diverging from the prevailing fairytale structure, this particular volume assumes the form of an intimate diary belonging to the lady herself.
The Halls Of The Mountain King
She shares the story of her intimate bond with a beloved partner, recounting how they managed to persevere through the hysteria of witch hunts, clinging onto hope for brighter days ahead. Unexpectedly, however, an uncontrollable plague ravages the village, bringing forth the presence of a mysterious hooded woman armed with a rake. This serves as the initial encounter with Pesta, who momentarily appears within the village and later must be vanquished in an intense battle while Olle propels his boat towards the towering Mountain.The final book will be situated within the game's ultimate mission, The Halls Of The Mountain King, and forms a component of a surreal experience where Olle is transported back to the Library. The book can be discovered once more perched on the small parapet, in the same location as the previous book.
The story delves deeper into the life of King Nils, depicting the tragic murder of his son while he slept. Consumed by a raging fury, King Nils released the Bramble, a devastating force that ravaged the entire Kingdom. As a consequence, the witch who had bestowed upon him this formidable power shackled him to the mountain.
