Whenever I'm adapting something, if it has already been adapted into a film, I don't rewatch the movies. It's just not necessary. When I was working on Pet Sematary, I simply continued to reread the books. The same goes for Sleepy Hollow. I adored the Tim Burton film as a child, so I watched it over and over again. The essence of that story - the romance, the spookiness, the etherealness - it's all ingrained in my heart. I don't need to rewatch the movie to understand that. Of course, I've been delving into the authentic folklore from the Hudson Valley, exploring the origins of the Headless Horseman, and conducting extensive research. I've also been immersing myself in visual research about the era and the region. In fact, I even visited the area during the summer. You start with reality, and then let your imagination take you wherever it leads.

Despite several adaptations over the years, including the popular Fox series, few interpretations have fully remained faithful to Irving's original story. Burton's iconic film diverged from the source material in several ways.
