Lana Condor's journey of self-discovery in terms of her beauty has been influenced by her unique family dynamics. Despite being Asian American, Condor grew up in a household that was not culturally Asian. However, with her brother being Asian, her parents made sure she was aware of her roots. This upbringing has shaped her perception of beauty.
Condor clarified that in terms of makeup and skincare, she had to rely on her own experimentation as her mother's guidance was limited.
Navigating the glamorous realm proved to be a daunting task for Condor, as she encountered the demand of embodying particular appearances for her various roles. Despite outwardly appearing beautiful, she confessed to the publication that she didn't resonate with her own reflection.
Lana Condor, photographed by AFF-USA/Shutterstock, has successfully discovered her authentic self amidst various influences. "In my daily life, I refuse to adhere to the standards imposed on me in this industry. It can be quite overwhelming, as if my face and body no longer belong to me."
Condor has discovered what works best for her as she has aged. She enjoys a natural, minimal makeup look but also appreciates a bold and intense makeup application. Graphic eyes are one of her favorite styles. She also has a fondness for big, daring lips. However, in her everyday life, she admires how her character Lara Jean from "To All the Boys" always maintained a fresh and youthful appearance.
Condor's involvement in the film industry has also deepened her understanding of Asian culture. During an interview with Allure, she shared her experience working on a current movie project that features an all-Asian cast. The film's production team paid great attention to her appearance, highlighting the significance of Asian representation in the industry.
In America, we have a preference for contouring and a more sculpted appearance," Condor explained in an interview with the magazine. "Personally, I enjoy using lashes and achieving a dramatic look when applying my makeup daily. I always make sure to include contouring and bronzer in my routine. However, for this particular project, the direction called for a 'classically Asian beauty from Asia' look, which meant no lashes or contouring. Instead, they wanted a 'glass' skin look, inspired by K-beauty."
Although Condor did not explicitly mention the name of the film, it was previously announced in June that she had been cast in "Worth the Wait," an independent romantic comedy featuring an all-Asian cast.
