Unveiling Kaido's Epic Devil Fruit Awakening in One Piece

Kaido, a highly popular character in One Piece, serves as the primary antagonist in the Wano Country arc. Decades before the start of the story, Kaido arrived in Wano and seized control of the entire nation. His sole reverence is reserved for those who prove their might, showing no concern for the well-being of the people. Throughout his time in Wano, Kaido faced a formidable challenge from Kozuki Oden, who ranked as the strongest samurai in the country.

Oden's unparalleled swordsmanship made it impossible for Kaido to even approach him. The aspiring Emperor sustained a deep scar on his torso and stood on the brink of defeat. However, Kurozumi Higurashi diverted Oden's attention, allowing Kaido to deliver a decisive blow. From then on, Kaido's power only grew, earning him the resounding reputation as the "Strongest Creature in the World." One crucial factor contributing to his formidable strength is the Uo Uo no Mi, Model: Seiryu.

The Devil Fruit

Kaido possesses the Uo Uo no Mi, Model: Seiryu, a Mythical Zoan-type Devil Fruit bestowed upon him by Big Mom during their time as members of the Rocks Pirates. This Devil Fruit grants Kaido the formidable ability to transform into an Azure Dragon at his command. When fully transformed, Kaido's presence looms above the town of Kuri, capable of devastating it effortlessly with his immense power. Additionally, Kaido wields the devastating attack known as Bolo Breath, a formidable beam that can obliterate entire mountaintops.

Throughout the arc, Kaido has employed Bolo Breath on numerous occasions, consistently causing significant destruction to his surroundings. Moreover, he possesses the capability to summon tornadoes that pose a formidable threat even to the mightiest adversaries. In addition to these formidable powers, Kaido also possesses Kaifu, or Demolition Gust, a technique where he emits a forceful gust of wind, generating razor-sharp blades capable of slicing through flesh with ease.

Hybrid Form

Kaido, like other Zoan-type Devil Fruit users, possesses a hybrid form that he often utilizes in battles. This form, although smaller than his full beast state, grants him increased agility, enabling him to effortlessly evade incoming attacks.

Furthermore, in his hybrid form, Kaido incorporates Haoshoku Haki into his strikes, greatly amplifying their overall strength. Just a single blow from his hybrid form proved devastating enough to immediately render Luffy unconscious. Notably, Kaido effortlessly outmaneuvered Trafalgar Law and Roronoa Zoro, leaving them no chance to counter his attacks. Additionally, Kaido adopts various drunken forms, making it exceptionally challenging to anticipate his movements. Not even Luffy's Future Sight ability could adequately keep up with Kaido's relentless onslaught.

Although his hybrid form generally suffices in overcoming most adversaries, Kaido possesses two other formidable weapons in his arsenal. The first is the Flame Dragon Torch technique, while the second lies in his Devil Fruit Awakening.

The Awakening

Kaido's potential Devil Fruit awakening has not been explicitly confirmed, but there are strong indications that he has indeed achieved it. Given Kaido's exceptional combat skills, it is highly unlikely that he hasn't awakened his Devil Fruit, especially when considering Doflamingo and Katakuri's awakenings. Further evidence supporting Kaido's awakening surfaced during his fight with Luffy at the castle. While in his hybrid form, Kaido's appearance underwent a noticeable change. His nose became smaller and his teeth became more pointed, giving him a more savage appearance and presumably enhancing his physical abilities. However, Kaido's decision not to utilize this transformation for extended periods can be attributed to the statement made by Oda regarding the will of Zoan-type Devil Fruits. Excessive use of the awakening can potentially lead to the beastly nature of the fruit overpowering the user. This can be observed in the case of the jailors of Impel Down who, despite awakening their Devil Fruits, cannot revert to their human forms. Kaido, being aware of this, chooses not to utilize his Devil Fruit awakening for prolonged periods, which also explains his beast-like appearance when in this state.

Eventually, he developed the Flame Dragon Torch technique. During this attack, Kaido emits a colossal amount of fire, which envelops his body and assumes a dragon-like form. The fire dragon is immense in scale, comparable in size to the Onigashima island, and possesses such intense heat that it can liquefy rocks.

While assuming this form, Kaido propels himself towards his opponent and unleashes a biting assault that inflicts substantial damage. Utilizing this maneuver as a final resort, Kaido did not possess many variations of it. Needless to say, his inability to activate his Devil Fruit Awakening did not significantly affect Kaido, as he remained an astonishingly formidable character. Despite being defeated by Luffy, Kaido will undoubtedly be remembered as one of the most legendary pirates in history.
