Unveiling Goku's Acquisition of Yamcha's Most Powerful Dragon Ball Technique

Unveiling Goku's Acquisition of Yamcha's Most Powerful Dragon Ball Technique

Goku's cunning strategy against Zoonama reveals an unexpected twist: a secret technique derived from Yamcha's playbook Discover the surprising connection between these powerful warriors!

In the current era of the Dragon Ball mythos, it is quite absurd that Goku, a fighter who has surpassed the power levels of literal gods, would be accused of stealing any technique from Yamcha. However, surprisingly enough, that's exactly what occurred in one particularly silly (yet simultaneously terrifying) storyline of Dragon Ball GT.

Yamcha, once a promising character in the entire Dragon Ball universe, has now become the most disappointing. This fact only adds to the frustration, as Yamcha used to be a formidable fighter. Back in the days of classic Dragon Ball, Yamcha, a desert bandit skilled in martial arts, wielded a sword and possessed a visually impressive and highly impactful signature move known as the Wolf Fang Fist. Additionally, Yamcha even managed to defeat Goku himself, while the Saiyan warrior was at the peak of his strength. It was during this fight that Yamcha performed a technique that Goku eventually adopted.

Goku Planned to Defeat Zoonama the Same Way Yamcha Defeated Him

Unveiling Goku's Acquisition of Yamcha's Most Powerful Dragon Ball Technique

In Dragon Ball GT season 1, episode 7 (written by Aya Matsui, directed by Osamu Kasai, produced by Toei Animation), Goku, Trunks, and Pan embark on a universe-wide quest to locate the Black Star Dragon Balls. During their journey, they arrive on an alien planet where a village is under the terrorizing grip of Zoonama, a gigantic monster resembling an anthropomorphic catfish. Zoonama possesses a fearsome ability to trigger earthquakes by vibrating his whiskers, which he exploits to manipulate the villagers into obeying his commands. Distressed by the situation, one of the women in the village, who happens to possess a Dragon Ball, strikes a deal with the Z-Fighters. She promises to give them the Dragon Ball in exchange for their assistance. To counter Zoonama's power, Goku devises a plan that, although somewhat unoriginal, appears to be foolproof.

Goku's strategy to defeat Zoonama involved having a townspeople volunteer to approach the monster closely and remove its whiskers using a gigantic pair of scissors. This plan was reminiscent of Yamcha's successful approach when he fought Goku in a chapter of the original Dragon Ball series. In chapter 22 by Akira Toriyama, Goku, for the first time in the series, transforms into a Great Ape, a notorious form known for annihilating entire planets. Yet, Yamcha fearlessly confronts Goku and demonstrates his quick thinking and brilliance. Yamcha instructs his shape-shifting comrade, Puar, to transform into a massive pair of scissors, which he then uses to sever Goku's tail. This maneuver effectively nullifies Goku's Great Ape strength, causing him to revert back to his humanoid state. Since this impressive technique serves as Yamcha's most significant victory to date, it rightfully claims the top spot as his best move. Interestingly, Goku appears to acknowledge the effectiveness of this maneuver by employing it himself later on. This suggests that Goku may have adopted Yamcha's Dragon Ball technique as his own.

Editor's P/S

As an enthusiastic fan of the Dragon Ball series, I find it both amusing and intriguing that Goku, one of the most powerful characters in the franchise, would resort to "stealing" a technique from Yamcha, a character who has largely become a source of disappointment for fans. The fact that Goku would adopt Yamcha's Wolf Fang Fist technique, which involves using a giant pair of scissors to sever an opponent's tail, is both unexpected and humorous.

While it may seem like a silly and insignificant move, the fact that Goku acknowledges the effectiveness of Yamcha's technique and incorporates it into his own arsenal speaks to the creativity and resourcefulness of the writers. It also adds a sense of continuity and interconnectedness to the series, showing that even minor characters and techniques can have a lasting impact on the story. Overall, I appreciate the nod to Yamcha's past glory and the way it highlights the evolution of Goku's fighting style.
