Jon Hamm has been announced as the main protagonist for season 5 of FX's acclaimed anthology series Fargo. The news was revealed in June 2022.

Jon Hamm is set to take center stage as the leading man of season 5 of FX’s hit anthology series Fargo.

The Top Gun: Maverick actor has been announced to join the latest installment of the show in June 2022. He will be playing the character named Roy. Alongside him, Juno Temple has been cast as Dot and Jennifer Jason Leigh will be portraying the character named Lorraine.

This series is based on the 1996 Coen brothers film with the same title. It follows a fresh set of characters in each season as they delve into murder investigations that plague different Midwestern towns. Though each season can be enjoyed independently, the stories eventually intertwine in enigmatic ways as new chapters unfold.

Who Is In the ‘Fargo’ Season 5 Cast?

Hamm has been cast as sheriff Roy Tillman in season 5 of the series, with Temple taking on the role of Dorothy "Dot" Lyon and Leigh portraying a character named Lorraine Lyon. Additional new cast members include Keery as Gator Tillman, Rysdahl as Wayne Lyon, Morris as North Dakota Deputy Witt Farr, Moorjani as Minnesota Police Deputy Indira Olmstead, Spruell as Ole Munch, and Foley as Danish Graves.

What Is the Plot of ‘Fargo’ Season 5?

The fifth installment will take place in the upper Midwest in 2019 and answer the question: “When is a kidnapping, a kidnapping, and what if your wife isn’t yours?”

Fargo showrunner Noah Hawley stated to Deadline in May 2021 that the upcoming season 5 would have a "contemporary" setting. He further elaborated, saying, "After the events of the last couple of years, I believe the way Minnesota is portrayed in future works will never be the same. It will certainly not revert to portraying carefree, cheerful white residents in their quaint towns."

Is There a ‘Fargo’ Season 5 Trailer?

In September 2023, FX released a series of short promos featuring various characters. In one of the previews, Dot from Temple is seen cooking in the kitchen when her attention is abruptly drawn to the doorbell. Startled, she immediately arms herself with a gun, a taser, and a baseball bat with nails, preparing to answer the door.

In another teaser, the sheriff played by Hamm disrupts the atmosphere at a café when he creepily inquires, "Who do I have to eliminate to get a cup of coffee?"

The third promo showcases Keery's character cautiously concealing himself behind hay barrels while surveilling a suspect. However, his cover is blown by a sudden gust of wind, which sends the barrel rolling away.
