Unveiling Fallout 76's Epic Season 13: Discover the Hidden Charms of Pre-War Hollywood!

Fallout 76 Season 13’s Hollywood-inspired scoreboard allows players to unleash their creativity by offering a vast array of in-game content, fostering a larger and more immersive gaming experience

Fallout 76 drew inspiration from old science fiction films for its retro-futuristic style, but details about the game's version of Hollywood have remained elusive. However, the Once in a Blue Moon update provides a rare glimpse into this hidden history.

In addition to unveiling Hollywood's past, the update also kicks off Season 13 for the Scoreboard in Fallout 76, which functions similar to a battle pass. Throughout the season, players can earn themed rewards, discover lore snippets, and even enjoy radio dramas centered around pre-War Hollywood. Completing daily and weekly challenges and progressing along the Scoreboard will unlock rewards such as golden weapons, popcorn machines, and posters for movies that exist within the game's universe. Game Rant recently interviewed Fallout 76's art director, John Rush, to discuss the creative direction behind this season's Scoreboard.

Rush explained that the choice to center on pre-War Hollywood was motivated by a goal to empower players with tools that enhance their creative expression in Fallout 76.

"When determining a fresh theme for the season, we seek to provide our players with a novel experience while offering high-quality thematic items to enhance their gameplay. As an example, this season introduces a new shelter space called the 'movie set' for players to incorporate into their camps. This expansion opens up endless possibilities for players to craft their own narratives through images or player-created movies. Notably, players have complete control over the lighting in this unique shelter."

This type of shelter has the potential to greatly benefit groups like the Wasteland Theatre Company in Fallout 76. Comprised of players who adapt classic productions like Shakespeare to fit the world of Fallout, this troupe would greatly benefit from new C.A.M.P. items such as stage lights and pyrotechnic tools. Similarly, the introduction of these Hollywood-like props would open up endless possibilities for other player groups. The addition of these props would complement the existing elements in the game and offer numerous creative opportunities.

While the current season of Fallout is centered around pre-War Hollywood content and allows players to create their own narratives within it, the franchise has always included hints of this culture before the war. Fallout: New Vegas' DLC introduced a lost film called Love Sets Sail and pre-War celebrities like Dean Domino and Vera Keyes. Fallout 4's Far Harbor DLC also explored this theme with the Vault 118 side quest "Brain Dead." These titles provided fans with glimpses into pre-War Hollywood, but Fallout 76 takes it to another level.

In Season 13, the rewards specifically reference movies from Hollywood before the nuclear bombs dropped, such as Weapon of Mass Attraction, Honk Honk Stab Stab, and The Egg. Other Fallout games have also mentioned Hollywood films and TV shows, and Fallout 76 features the mansion of the voice actress for an in-world superhero radio drama, Shannon Rivers, who portrayed the Mistress of Mystery. It is unclear whether any of the actors mentioned in Fallout lore have won the prestigious Goldie Award, a golden Vault Boy statuette, but players have the chance to earn it as one of the rewards in this season's scoreboard.

Fallout 76 is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
