Haikyuu!! movie’s new character visuals further excitement amongst fans as release date draws nearer
Haikyuu!! Movie and Its Reception
Before the upcoming Haikyuu!! movie and its other half, the franchise had released four separate television anime seasons to adapt Furudate’s original manga. While adapting the substantial amount of material remaining into a two-part movie series was initially controversial, fans have seemingly come around to the idea.
The updated character visuals for the Haikyuu!! movie have been released on the film’s official website. Along with the ones previously mentioned, new visuals have also been revealed for Kei Tsukishima, Tadashi Yamaguchi, Yu Nishinoya, Daichi Sawamura, Ryunosuke Tanaka, Asahi Azumane, and Koshi Sugawara.
The movie is scheduled to debut in Japanese cinemas on Friday, February 16, 2023, but as of the writing of this article, there is no confirmed information regarding an international release. It is widely anticipated, however, that the film will eventually be released overseas following its premiere in Japan.
Directed and written by Susumu Mitsunaka, with character designs by Takahiro Kishida. Mariko Ishikawa serves as the assistant director, and Mayumi Satou is the color designer. Production I.G, known for animating all four seasons of the television anime, will once again handle the animation production for the upcoming film.
All four seasons of the television anime are now available for streaming on Crunchyroll's platform. It's currently unknown whether the Haikyuu!! movie(s) will also be added to the platform, but it's expected to happen eventually. However, this will likely occur after the initial theatrical release of both films.
Furudate's manga was first serialized in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in February 2012 and concluded in July 2020 after releasing 402 chapters compiled into 45 book volumes, all of which have been fully released in Japanese and English. Aside from the ongoing anime franchise, Furudate has also released several one-shots for the series. Stay updated on all anime, manga, film, and live-action news as 2023 progresses.
