However, one particular member of the Belmont lineage met an untimely demise at the start of Castlevania: Nocturne. This ill-fated Belmont happened to be Richter's mother, whose tragic death at the hands of a vampire was witnessed by the young Richter himself. In the aftermath, Richter sought refuge in France, taking up residence with Tera and her daughter. Nevertheless, the memories of his mother's demise haunt him ceaselessly. Despite being plagued by these traumatic recollections, Richter would ultimately become embroiled in the French Revolution, standing alongside Maria as the people rose against the corrupt Marquis. Regrettably, the Marquis has since transformed into a vampire and has allied himself with the vampire messiah. In a battle against this overwhelmingly powerful entity, Richter and Maria find themselves overwhelmingly defeated and are forced to retreat hastily. Yet, their nemesis shows no mercy and refuses to let them escape.

Alucard, born Adrian Tepes, is the offspring of the vampire Dracula. Many mistakenly believe Alucard and Dracula to be one and the same due to the reverse spelling of his name; however, the Alucard presented in the Castlevania series is, in fact, Dracula's son. Inheriting qualities from both his parents, Alucard is a unique blend of vampire and human. This hybrid nature allows him to possess vampire abilities while still being able to tolerate sunlight, a trait typically exclusive to humans. As a proficient and formidable warrior, Alucard demonstrates the typical attributes associated with vampires, but he also retains a kind and empathetic disposition. Following the unjust killing of his mother by humans, he opposes his own father's plan for human genocide. Despite his sorrow, Alucard diligently protects humans and joins forces with Trevor Belmont and Sypha Belnades to ultimately bring an end to Dracula's reign.

Alucard’s Role In The Original Castlevania Series

In the original Castlevania series, Alucard collaborated with Trevor and Sypha as one of the main protagonists. Following the demise of Alucard's mother at the hands of humans, his father, Dracula, sought to punish the entire human race for their actions. Despite his resentment towards humans, Alucard resisted Dracula's intentions to commit genocide and strongly opposed his plans. Unfortunately, Dracula rejected any form of communication, escalating the situation from verbal to physical confrontation between Alucard and himself. In the ensuing battle, Alucard, unable to match his father's strength, was defeated. In order to regain his vitality and reach optimal condition, Alucard entombed himself to recuperate, awaiting the arrival of the purported hunter and scholar who were destined to fight by his side. Upon encountering Trevor and Sypha, Alucard initiated a test of their determination by engaging in combat with them. Convinced of their capability to confront Dracula, Alucard divulged his identity and cause, ultimately gaining their alliance. Although Alucard and Trevor initially clashed due to their contrasting perspectives on vampires, their relationship gradually evolved into that of comrades. Consolidating their forces, the trio embarked on a mission to confront the leader of the vampires. However, given Dracula's constantly shifting castle, they needed to discover a method to immobilize it. This necessitated their journey to the Belmont Keep, where ancient texts held the key to guide their actions.

Alucard's Surprising Return In Castlevania: Nocturne

Given that Castlevania: Nocturne takes place hundreds of years after the original Castlevania series, where Alucard was initially introduced, it was unlikely for him to reappear, especially in the final episode just as Richter was facing imminent death.
