Highlights
Strength is the ultimate power in the world of Baki Hanma, but it is only acknowledged by the presence of the weak.
Doyle, Izou Motobe, and Kiyosumi Katou are regarded as weak because of their specific traits and imperfections.
Despite having certain abilities and techniques, Mohammad Alai Jr, Gerry Strydum, and Mitsunari Tokugawa are deficient in terms of raw physical strength and power, in contrast to other fighters in the series.
In a world where martial arts and fierce battles reign, power is paramount - and such is the realm of Baki Hanma. This sensational martial arts series revolves solely around strength. However, the acknowledgment of strength comes only through the existence of the feeble.
Within the series, which boasts a myriad of mighty personas, there are also characters who, by its standards, can be deemed as weak. Although not in the literal sense, these individuals possess certain attributes and vulnerabilities that prevent them from standing beside the elite. Thus, presented below are some of the least formidable characters in the series.
9 Doyle
Doyle, an escaped death-row convict, is a skilled assassin with expertise in weaponry. Similar to Katou, he lacks any moral qualms about winning a fight by any means necessary. Employing various weapons, Doyle gains an edge over his adversaries primarily due to the element of surprise.
Despite undergoing experimental treatments that grant him almost superhuman abilities, Doyle consistently falls short against much stronger adversaries like Oliver Biscuit and Yanagi, who leave him blind following their confrontations. While Doyle possesses strength, he ultimately proves insufficient for the series.
8 Izou Motobe
Motobe, an aged Japanese master, used to train the young Baki Hanma. Despite his generally calm and unexpressive demeanor, Motobe is highly skilled and experienced.
His battle intellect is at a remarkable level, making him one of the most formidable fighters in the series. However, due to his comparatively weaker physique, Motobe is often outmatched in terms of raw power. Though seemingly insignificant, this slight disadvantage would always prove fatal for him in a close battle.
7 Kiyosumi Katou
Katou, a student of Doppo Orochi's renowned Shinshinkai, stands out for his cunning and brutal approach to martial arts, which differs from his master's perspective. Known for his volatile temperament, Katou despises losing above all else, which leads him to employ any tactics necessary to defeat his adversaries.
However, despite his considerable skills, Katou is well aware of his inferiority to many other fighters. With limited physical strength and less refined techniques, he relies heavily on underhanded tactics, although even these prove insufficient against opponents of greater power.
6 Mohammad Alai Jr
Alai Jr, the son of the renowned Mohammad Alai, is a highly proficient boxer in the series. He boasts about his mastery of a unique martial art focused solely on punches. However, his arrogance blinds him to a critical flaw. Unlike his peers, he fails to acknowledge the potential risks of death during a bout, robbing him of the ability to truly risk his life in combat. Adding to his challenges, Alai Jr lacks the sheer physical strength possessed by his formidable adversaries, significantly undermining his effectiveness in facing opponents who surpass him in power.
5 Gerry Strydum
Strydum, a close friend of Yuujirou Hanma and a high-ranking officer in the U.S. Army, represents the epitome of physical strength for an average individual. Despite his imposing physique, Strydum's typically reserved demeanor is contrasted by his compassionate nature towards the young Baki.
While Strydum boasts extensive military experience and expertise in weaponry and explosives, his combat skills are relatively inferior when compared to the martial arts experts present in the series. In terms of raw power and technique, Strydum is regarded as ordinary in comparison to the other characters in the show.
4 Andreas Regan
Andreas Regan, a wrestler of immense size, stands out as one of the most prominent characters in the series, only surpassed by a select few. From a young age, Regan possessed exceptional strength, yet he always felt constrained because he could never fully unleash his power against anyone, until his fateful battle with Baki.
However, despite his formidable strength, it proves insufficient in the realm of martial arts and master fighters, as he still falls short of defeating Baki himself. Regan's lack of refined martial techniques renders his power ineffective against opponents of a higher caliber.
3 Sergio Silva
Sergio Silva, a Brazilian Jiu-jitsu fighter, may not display a vibrant personality, but he is undoubtedly a force to be reckoned with as one of the 36 fighters in the esteemed Maximum tournament. Although Sergio exhibits great skill and competence in the Jiu-jitsu fighting style, his journey is cut short as he faces the formidable Jack Hanma in the first round. Unfortunately, Sergio is effortlessly defeated and eliminated from the tournament. Despite his proficiency in martial techniques, Sergio's lack of physical power prevents him from matching up to the strength of his opponents, underscoring the uncompromising reality that only the strongest can survive in the martial arts world.
2 Minoru Yamamoto
Yamamoto, a participant in the Maximum tournament, is not particularly exceptional in his abilities, but he is known for his analytical approach to studying his opponents. His inclusion in the tournament suggests that he possesses some level of formidable combat skills.
Yet, his reputation takes a blow when he suffers a swift and decisive defeat in the first round at the hands of Yui Amanai. Subsequently, Yamamoto's presence in the show becomes scarce, as his techniques prove to be barely effective and his power remains only slightly above average. He struggles to find his footing in the competition, appearing out of place.
1 Mitsunari Tokugawa
Mitsunari Tokugawa, the 13th leader of the Tokugawa clan, is a short and bald elderly man. He is responsible for overseeing the operations of the Underground Arena and deciding the nature of the competitions for its participants.
Although he holds the position of the head of a martial arts clan, it is evident that Mitsunari is not depicted as a fighter throughout the series. Nevertheless, he possesses extensive knowledge of martial arts and is solely focused on the outcomes of his tournaments. In a world where power is dominant, Tokugawa lacks any personal credentials of strength.
