The upcoming indie game BloomTown: A Different Story is heading to PC and consoles, with PC gamers now able to add it to their wishlists on Steam. This turn-based RPG combines the nostalgia-inducing retro graphics of Stardew Valley with the captivating essence of Netflix's Stranger Things.

BloomTown: A Different Story is a collaborative project between Different Sense Games and Lazy Bear Games, and will be published by Twin Sails Interactive. Although Different Sense Games is a newcomer to the gaming scene, Lazy Bear and Twin Sales have an established presence. Lazy Bear has previously developed acclaimed titles like Graveyard Keeper and Punch Club, while Twin Sails is known for publishing digital adaptations of popular board games, including the tactical turn-based RPG Gloomhaven.

BloomTown, an upcoming game, is still without a release date. However, the game's captivating announcement trailer and Steam page are enough to pique curiosity. In the game, players assume the roles of siblings Emily and Chester, who visit their grandfather's farm for the summer. At first glance, the titular town appears charming and cozy, but it becomes evident that something is amiss. As children begin to mysteriously vanish, Emily, Chester, and their friends embark on a journey into the parallel world known as the Underside to rescue BloomTown from demonic entities.

From what developers have revealed so far, the game's backgrounds and sprites are visually impressive. Its vibrant aesthetic and cartoon-style graphics effectively convey the pleasant atmosphere, which creates a striking contrast with the lurking malevolent forces beneath the town's facade. The setting and storyline of BloomTown: A Different Story evoke strong reminiscent vibes of Stranger Things, a popular TV series, while also likely drawing inspiration from the cult classic 1994 JRPG EarthBound.

Drawing inspiration from classic JRPGs, BloomTown invites players to embark on a supernatural adventure in a visually stunning 2D pixel art world. Engaging in turn-based combat, players can form a party of up to four unique characters, each with their own strengths and abilities. They also have the ability to unleash powerful combo attacks by summoning their own demons.
