Dressing up as a tardigrade monster and scaring off tourists on Titan is a popular and fun quest in Starfield, but it also has reactivity in other quests like First Contact.
Wearing the tardigrade costume while undertaking the First Contact quest in Starfield can activate exclusive dialogue and interactions. Several Starfield players have also claimed to have come across this special dialogue simply by possessing the suit in their inventory.
In Starfield, dressing up as a tardigrade monster to chase away tourists on Titan provides an unforgettable experience. Surprisingly, the reactivity of the costume extends beyond this, even into the First Contact quest. While Akila City, Neon, and New Atlantis serve as the game's main hubs, smaller locations are scattered throughout the Settled Systems for players to discover. New Homestead, a remote "museum" on Saturn's moon, offers a significant number of side quests to tackle.
Dr. Giuliana Lakota rewards players with the monster costume questline if they assist in scaring off tourists on three separate occasions. This easily overlooked Starfield side quest has gained popularity among fans, and Bethesda's developers have ensured that NPCs react appropriately to players wearing the costume, even when outside of Titan.
Bombtree, a player of Starfield, recently shared a video showcasing their character's experience on the Constant during the First Contact questline. This questline is especially noteworthy due to the amusing circumstances surrounding it. The Constant, an ancient colony ship from Earth, has been drifting in space for over a century. For the settlers onboard, this is their first exposure to the Settled Systems and their initial encounter with intelligent life beyond their society. Surprisingly, the person representing this first contact is a grown man wearing a tardigrade mascot suit.
The game's reactivity extends beyond First Contact, as players can also begin the Ryujin Industries storyline uniquely by wearing the costume to their job interview in Starfield. Unfortunately, the overall level of reactivity in Starfield mostly remains in the background and is tied to traits selected during character creation. However, New Game Plus introduces a new dialogue option via the Starborn trait for players who are progressing through a previously completed quest.
Several Starfield players have reported obtaining exclusive monster costume lines by having the suit in their inventory. Whether this is a bug or a deliberate feature is still uncertain, but fans who wish to acquire the tardigrade costume before starting the side quests should take note. However, it is important to consider that the suit's statistics may not be the best. Nevertheless, modders are expected to enhance its performance once official modding tools for Starfield are released in early 2024.
Starfield can be played on PC and Xbox Series X/S.
