In Gen V Episode 7, it is exposed that Transoceanic Flight 37 holds significant importance in Dean Shetty's history. Let's refresh our memory about the events that unfolded on the plane.

Our earlier assessment of the seventh episode highlighted its ability to replicate the emotionally and satirically intense nature of the main series. Furthermore, it captivates by unsettlingly restructuring the power dynamics.

In Episode 7, Shetty's plans to maximize the contagion of the Virus are exposed. The episode delves into her wider endeavors to gain support for a superhero genocide, which includes a meeting with Grace Mallory. The reasons behind her desire to eradicate all superheroes from the face of the Earth are explored.

Marie and Jordan manage to covertly enter Shetty's office and stumble upon a folder containing various documents related to a tragic incident involving Transoceanic Flight 37, which had 123 passengers on board. Now, let's uncover the events surrounding this incident.

Gen V: Transoceanic Flight 37 explained

Transoceanic Flight 37 was the plane that Homelander and Queen Maeve tried and failed to save in The Boys Season 1 – and Shetty’s husband and daughter were on it.

While en route from Paris to Chicago, the plane fell victim to a terrorist hijacking. Amidst the chaos, Homelander and Queen Maeve managed to board the aircraft and eliminate two assailants. However, their attempt to rescue the hostages took a devastating turn when Homelander inadvertently incapacitated the cockpit controls with a laser, rendering the plane incapable of flight.

Maeve requested him to "elevate the aircraft," yet Homelander deemed it impossible. Therefore, instead of finding a solution on the spot, he made the difficult choice to abandon everyone. Despite Maeve's plea to save a young girl and her mother, Homelander argued that rescuing one would result in a significant public relations disaster. He confronted Maeve, stating, "Are we supposed to let the world know that we left the rest of them to perish?" He then proceeded to threaten the frightened passengers with violence before departing with Maeve.

Tragically, all 123 individuals, including Lily and Paul Shetty, the dean's family, perished in the crash. Marie and the others, convinced that the world would be safer without any superheroes, express their belief that it's not just Homelander, but all of them who leave a trail of destruction in their wake.
