Netflix is returning with a new dating series that comes with a twist and unique rules. Hopeful Korean and Japanese actors will compete for a coveted leading role in a K-drama and an opportunity for love off-screen in Love Like a K-drama.
Love Like a K-drama fulfills every fan's fantasy as eight participants seek love and sparks in the same manner as popular K-dramas. Four female Japanese actors will meet four Korean male actors, and despite the language barrier, they will strive to communicate and build relationships.
When love is on the line, so is a highly desired acting opportunity. By the conclusion of Love Like a K-drama, one aspiring couple will take the lead in their own real-life K-drama.
As Netflix continues to thrive with Single’s Inferno and its upcoming Season 3, Love Like a K-drama ups the ante with heightened emotional turmoil.
Love Like a K-drama rules are easy to follow
The cast will live together in the bustling city of Seoul with newly paired couples auditioning for the chance to star in a K-drama episode.
Fortunately, the rules of Love Like a K-drama are quite simple. The eight participants will share living quarters for the duration of the show. Despite the language barrier, many of them can communicate using translation apps. Additionally, some of the male contestants know a bit of Japanese.
Upon meeting the female contestants for the first time, the male contestants each visited a designated location in Seoul. There, they were introduced to the female contestants and the women indicated their interest in pairing up by raising their hand. If more than one female participant showed interest, the male contestant could then choose. The process continued until all pairs were formed.
The initial pairs were given the Episode 1 script to practice and run through, and then auditioned in front of selected judges. The best pair would then be chosen to film the episode. Love Like a K-drama introduced a twist to their rules, with the pairs being changed for each new episode based on choice. In Episode 2, the male contestants decided among themselves whether to stay with their partner or switch. If one female contestant was chosen more than once, a decision had to be made.
The rules remain consistent for each episode of "Love Like a K-drama," with new couples auditioning and the winners filming it. In Episode 4, the selection process was altered, as male contestants drew items they desired as gifts, and female contestants raced to purchase their chosen item in hopes of returning first. This format will continue until the final episode, where the ultimate winning couple will be decided.
