The main characters in Goosebumps believed they had faced the worst and successfully eliminated Slappy forever. However, the Season 1 finale revealed that Slappy's reign of terror was more resilient than initially anticipated.
Initially, it appeared that Margot, James, Lucas, Isaiah, and Isabella had successfully gotten rid of Slappy by pushing him off a snowy cliff. This event seemed to signal the end of the malevolent puppet. Yet, in Goosebumps Episode 9, viewers discovered that Mr. Bratt, a struggling writer, experienced financial hardships until inheriting the Biddle home.
After the eventful encounters with Biddle come to an end, he resumes his writing endeavors by crafting a narrative inspired by his experiences. However, a significant obstacle arises as the publishers vehemently dislike the conclusion. Struggling with a lack of inspiration, Mr. Biddle experiences a sudden and dreadful realization, prompting him to seek assistance from none other than Slappy.
Summoning Slappy through the mystical incantation, he reappears in his original form. In the climactic ending of Goosebumps, the beloved protagonists cross paths with the actual Slappy, who unveils his ingenious scheme to revolutionize the world. But does he ultimately succeed? Let's uncover the answer. Reader, be warned! Spoilers lie ahead.
Does the Goosebumps team manage to thwart Slappy for good by the ending?
The conclusion of Goosebumps is a captivating cliffhanger where Margot employs a spell to aid Isaiah's recovery from his injuries. Complicating matters further, Mr. Biddle finds himself once again under the control of the actual Slappy.
The final episode commences with a revelation of Slappy's true identity - a former army lieutenant named Kanduu who uncovers the secrets of magic. Previously trapped within the Slappy doll by his ex-business partner, Mr. Bratt, Kanduu is released back into his original body through Bratt's incantation. Now free to move about and reunited with the characters who have returned from Portland, Kanduu sets his plan into action.
Harnessing his powers of illusion, Kanduu creates a false reality where Lucas's father is alive and in witness protection. His scheme succeeds in deceiving Lucas and transforming him into a puppet. However, Kanduu's attempt to do the same with Isaiah fails. Isaiah detects inconsistencies, shatters the illusion, and rushes to prevent Margot from being ensnared by her own false perception. James and Isabella have similar realizations, but Isabella had already figured out the truth independently.
As they follow Lucas to the school field, they are shocked to discover that he has been transformed into a puppet. The situation takes a frightening turn when they are held captive by Nora and Margot's father, who is responsible for turning all the adults in town into puppets. The characters uncover Mr. Bratt's involvement in these events and realize that Harold Biddle was merely a pawn in Kanduu's greater plan. Kanduu intends to release monsters into the world through a series of spells, believing that this will prevent humans from turning into monsters themselves. Additionally, Kanduu plans to burn all the human puppets as a sacrificial ritual. Understandably alarmed by this, the characters turn to Mr. Bratt for help. He tells them that Franz Maher had discovered a solution, although there is no documentation of it. Acting on Mr. Bratt's suggestion, they decide to resurrect Franz Maher in order to obtain the necessary information. Unfortunately, their plan goes awry when Franz betrays them and assists Kanduu in setting everyone on fire.
The truth is, it was a deception. Mr. Biddle had disguised himself as Franz in order to manipulate Kanduu like the rest of the puppets. They search for a spell, but Kanduu suddenly reverts back to normal. He recites a new incantation that summons the ghouls to rise and take control. Meanwhile, Isaiah manages to free the others and instructs Margot to find a spell to stop Kanduu.
Margot recites an incantation that undoes the original spell that saved Kanduu. As a result, he becomes mortal, injured, and consumed by the ghouls. In the midst of the chaos, Kanduu, filled with anger, shoots Isaiah. While everyone else returns to their human form, Isaiah is left fighting for his life in intensive care with slim chances of survival.
Margot confesses her desire to be with him and then casts the same spell that previously saved Kanduu onto Isaiah. Mr. Bratt, feeling burdened with guilt, retreats to the bathroom. However, his reflection in the mirror shocks him as he realizes he has once again become possessed by Kanduu.

As a Gen Z fan, I have mixed feelings about the Goosebumps ending. On the one hand, I appreciate the show's attempt to subvert expectations and deliver a shocking twist. On the other hand, I feel that the ending was somewhat anticlimactic and did not fully resolve the story's central conflict.
I think the show did a good job of building suspense and creating a sense of mystery around Slappy's true identity. The reveal that Slappy was actually a former army lieutenant named Kanduu was unexpected and intriguing. I also enjoyed the way the show explored the themes of illusion and reality, and how Kanduu used his powers to manipulate the characters.
However, I feel that the ending of the show was somewhat rushed and did not give enough time to fully explore the implications of Kanduu's plan. I would have liked to see more of the characters' reactions to the revelation of Slappy's true identity, and I think the show could have done a better job of resolving the conflict between Kanduu and the characters.
Overall, I think the Goosebumps ending was a bit of a letdown. While I appreciate the show's attempt to be unpredictable, I feel that the ending ultimately fell short of its potential.
