The guild's primary objective is to obliterate every dark guild in not only Fiore but also beyond, a fitting mission for a motley crew of former dark guild mages.

The Founders of Crime Sorcière

During Fairy Tail's time on Tenrou Island and the subsequent seven-year time skip, Jellal Fernandes was freed from the Magic Council's imprisonment by former members of Grimoire Heart, Ultear and Meredy. Following Grimoire Heart's defeat by Fairy Tail, Ultear and Meredy escaped Acnologia's wrath on Tenrou Island and decided to embark on a path of redemption. As her first step towards making amends, Ultear manipulated Jellal into believing he had seen the spirit of Zeref.

With Jellal now aware of the true nature of the Tower of Heaven, he sought to repent for his past actions and atrocities. In their pursuit of atonement, Jellal, Ultear, and Meredy established Crime Sorcière, an independent guild with the sole purpose of eliminating every trace of Zeref from Earthland. Since Crime Sorcière was never officially sanctioned by the Magic Council, it operated as an independent faction, acting as a vigilante group dedicated to protecting the continent of Ishgar.

Crime Sorcière's Objectives

The guild's primary objective is to eliminate all dark guilds in Ishgar and rid the continent of Zeref's followers. While identifying and disrupting dark guilds is easy for Crime Sorcière members, the real challenge lies in investigating the black arts to uncover any remnants of Zeref's magical power.

Despite their success in dismantling dark guilds across Fiore, Jellal, Ultear, and Meredy have been largely unsuccessful in discovering any traces of Zeref's influence. That is why Jellal took on the disguise of Mystogan during the Grand Magic Games, as Crime Sorcière had detected a peculiar dark magic emanating from the capital city. It was later revealed that this magic was coming from the Eclipse Gate, confirming its connection to Zeref and his dark arts.

Crime Sorcière also provided crucial assistance to the Fairy Tail guild during their battle against the Alvarez Empire. Acting as a vital reinforcement, they supported the mages in maintaining the frontlines of the war. The guild played a significant role in freeing towns in Southern Ishgar and ensuring triumph for the entire region. Although not classified as a dark guild, the Alvarez Empire was under the complete control of Zeref, making the war directly align with Crime Sorcière's ultimate mission of eliminating Zeref and his malevolent magic.

Crime Sorcière's Expansion

Following the collapse of the Magic Council, numerous inmates were set free, including the Oracion Seis. With their liberation from the council's control, Jellal agreed to engage in combat against the newly released members. Should Jellal emerge victorious in a fair fight against the five mages, they would join Crime Sorcière. Initially, the odds were stacked against Jellal as he found himself outnumbered and overpowered by the Oracion Seis, struggling to hold his ground.

However, Jellal turned the tide of battle by sacrificing his own eyes, rendering Midnight’s illusions useless. He emerged victorious against all five members, compelling them to adhere to his initial condition of joining the guild. Midnight, Angel, Cobra, Racer, and Hoteye, after the conclusion of this battle, chose to join Crime Sorcière, embracing a new path dedicated to combating Zeref and his followers.

Crime Sorcière's Recognition

Initially, Crime Sorcière operated discreetly, escaping the notice of both the Magic Council and the Kingdom of Fiore. This was mainly due to the guild's small size and lack of a fixed headquarters. Moreover, they adhered to the regulations imposed by the Magic Council, ensuring that no alarm bells were raised to warrant the attention of the council. However, as their contributions during the war against the Alvarez Empire became more apparent, the impact of Crime Sorcière's endeavors reverberated throughout the Kingdom.

Crime Sorcière was finally acknowledged by Princess Hisui E. Fiore, from the Kingdom of Fiore, resulting in the guild members being forgiven for their previous wrongdoings. Their sole penance now consisted of striving to create a brighter future through peaceful endeavors. This recognition effectively granted these ex-dark mages redemption, relieving them of their status as wanted criminals within Fiore.
