Unprecedented Co-Op Thrills Await in New South Park Game!

THQ Nordic has recently unveiled the release of South Park: Snow Day, a collaborative game set to launch on PC and consoles in 2024. The Austrian publisher had initially hinted at this new South Park game almost a year ago.

This hint followed a remarkably transparent job advertisement that emerged online in early 2022, revealing ongoing development on another South Park game. In addition to confirming the game's existence, the listing also accurately indicated that the new South Park game would incorporate multiplayer features.

At the 2023 THQ Nordic Showcase, South Park: Snow Day was unveiled through a trailer. The trailer begins with Cartman delivering an enthusiastic speech about the enchantment of snow days for young children. He delivers this speech in front of Jimbo's Guns, a recurring location in the South Park TV series and the South Park RPGs by Ubisoft.

Following Cartman's speech, the trailer showcases approximately 20 seconds of gameplay footage. It displays a chaotic battle taking place in the town square after a blizzard. This footage aligns with THQ Nordic's description of South Park: Snow Day as a cooperative game accommodating up to four players. Notably, the gameplay depicts Cartman, Kyle, Stan, and Kenny defending against waves of middle schoolers in a player-versus-environment (PvE) encounter.

Unlike Ubisoft's acclaimed South Park RPGs, Snow Fight takes a different approach to the visual style of the iconic TV show. Instead of replicating the cutout-like look, the game features 3D graphics while remaining faithful to the simple aesthetic of South Park's characters. The combat shown in the reveal trailer is fast-paced and diverse, with a range of melee weapons, fireballs, and unique traversal options like using a snow shovel as a catapult.

THQ Nordic has confirmed that the co-op title is being developed by Question Games, a Tiburon-based company known for the innovative sandbox game The Magic Circle. This aligns with the leaked information about the developer of the new South Park game back in January 2022. South Park Digital Studios is also involved in the development of South Park: Snow Day. While an exact release date has not been announced, the game is expected to launch in 2024, making it likely that THQ Nordic is targeting a holiday release to coincide with its snowy theme.
