Republic of Ireland manager Vera Pauw refutes body-shaming claims during her time coaching Houston Dash Allegations emerged last December but Pauw denies any wrongdoing The FAI stands by her, offering full support

Republic of Ireland manager Vera Pauw, determined to remain truthful, accepts that she will forever bear the burden of unfounded accusations suggesting she body-shamed players during her tenure as the head of Houston Dash, vehemently denying the claims made in a report on misconduct in the National Women's Soccer League.

Additional allegations from ex-players have surfaced recently and have cast a shadow over the team's preparations for the Women's World Cup. Their upcoming match against France at Tallaght Stadium on Thursday will serve as their final game before they depart.

During a press conference, she expressed her views on the matter, comparing it to a previously reported incident in December. She questioned how one can defend oneself against false accusations when they originate from unidentified sources.

"I will never win from a lie. That is clear now. I have to live with it and carry it with me for the rest of my life I'm afraid."

Pauw added that if you were to replace him with Pep Guardiola, Louis Van Gaal, or Jose Mourinho in the allegations, it would be a laughing matter.

"It solely revolves around coaching, excluding any other factor. Delving into specifics is unnecessary as it is baseless and false.

"The truth provides immense security, and that truth aligns with my experiences. Those in my vicinity, familiar with my work, can attest to its inaccuracy."

Acknowledging the occasional disagreements she has had with Pauw, Ireland's captain Katie McCabe emphasizes that they have always managed to maintain a healthy professional relationship. Both individuals are fully dedicated to maximizing the team's potential and pushing for excellence.

"Vera's management style is something we have become familiar with for the past two years," she expressed.

"We have collaborated extensively, engaging in occasional disagreements, as it is unrealistic to constantly have a flawless relationship with one's manager. She motivates me, and I in turn motivate her."
