Instead of pursuing his dreams, he ends up working at his parents' neighborhood supermarket. However, when a body is discovered, he discovers that all the evidence points to one of their customers and their shopping list. A Killer’s Shopping List was well-received by fans who appreciated its blend of comedy and thrills.

Rather than a second season, it was revealed that Disney+ would produce a spinoff called A Shop for Killers. The series will shift from a supermarket to an unassuming shop – here’s what you need to know.

A Shop for Killers: What’s the K-drama about?

A young woman uncovers the dark and perplexing truth behind her uncle’s shopping mall after his death in A Shop for Killers.

Jung Ji-an has endured a life filled with tragedy. After her father murdered her mother and then committed suicide at her grandmother’s funeral, she was left under the care of her uncle, Jung Jin-man, who owned a shopping center. As she matured, Ji-an continued her life and pursued higher education.

However, tragedy struck once again when Ji-an received news of her uncle's passing and returned home to handle his affairs. Among them was the responsibility of managing the shopping mall, but Ji-an soon discovers that it was merely a front for her uncle's true profession. Despite being told that her uncle had taken his own life, Ji-an's suspicions lead her to question the circumstances surrounding his death, knowing him better than that.

Soompi reported that the official poster for the K-drama features the tagline, "Will you keep running the shopping mall despite the dangerous inheritance left by your uncle?" Who was Ji-an's uncle? Will his secrets pose a threat to her, or will Ji-an take on his legacy after uncovering the truth? Suddenly thrown into a world of gunfire and violence, Ji-an must rely on her early training to survive.

Fans of K-drama will recognize a familiar face in the cast of A Killer’s Shopping List, as Actor Park appeared in a supporting role in the 2022 series. He portrayed an employee at the supermarket in the fish section, initially suspected of murder until it is revealed that he has a double persona and dresses as a woman. He ultimately helps the main characters in their quest to find the killer. It is worth noting that Park's character in the spinoff is not related to the original K-drama, as indicated by the difference in character names.

Coincidentally, both Lee and Kim have previously portrayed killers in their roles in Hell is Other People and Inspector Koo.

A Shop for Killers: When is the release date?

The K-drama is set to release on January 17, 2024, on Disney+ and Hulu.

A Shop for Killers will add to the extensive lineup of upcoming K-dramas for 2024, and is one of many premiering in January. The K-drama will consist of just eight episodes. Unlike The Killer’s Shopping List, the spinoff will be available to global fans on Disney+ and Hulu.

As for the release schedule, it remains unclear whether Disney+ will release the K-drama on a weekly basis or all at once. Additionally, it is an adaptation of the novel Sarinjaui Syopingmol by Kang Ji-young.
