To populate a thriving dinosaur ranch in the farm sim game Paleo Pines, the first step is to learn how to befriend dinosaurs. In this game, players will encounter a variety of dinosaur species and color variations in the wild, which can be tamed and befriended. Once tamed, dinosaurs can be brought to the players' dino sanctuary, where they can assist with activities such as farming, ranching, and unlocking more areas of the island.
Initially, taming dinosaurs in Paleo Pines may seem challenging, as players need to master playing the flute correctly and understand the musical note symbols to successfully make friends. Fortunately, new players can follow a few straightforward steps to start creating a multitude of dinosaur companions.
How To Start Befriending Dinosaurs In Paleo Pines
In Paleo Pines, players can tame dinosaurs, but they can only do so after waiting until day three in the in-game calendar system for companion Lucky to dig up the flute in the yard. Once players have tested the flute with Lucky, they are required to find Mari in order to receive training on dinosaur-taming. Before speaking with Mari and learning the fundamentals of taming, befriending dinosaurs in the wild is not an option.
Players can locate Mari in the northern region of the Paleo Pines' map near her residence or as she roams along the paths and fields in the surrounding vicinity. Mari, an NPC resident scientist, can also be identified on the map through her avatar icon, distinguished by the presence of a hat. Engage in a conversation with Mari to initiate the process of taming dinosaurs, which commences by capturing their attention using the flute.
How To Play The Flute Mini-Game To Tame Dinosaurs In Paleo Pines
In order to establish a bond with a dinosaur in Paleo Pines, players are required to employ the use of a flute to capture the dinosaur's attention. Subsequently, players need to familiarize themselves with the dinosaur's distinctive call, a melodic composition whose characteristics, such as the color and duration of the musical notes, vary depending on each dinosaur species. To successfully tame and forge a friendship with a dinosaur in Paleo Pines, players should adhere to the following step-by-step process, involving the utilization of the flute.
1. Get near the dinosaur, maintaining a moderate distance to prevent it from fleeing. Promptly tap the red music note button thrice to grab the dinosaur's attention.
2. The camera perspective switches to a lateral view, unveiling the dinosaur's song of friendship. Observe attentively and mimic the musical notes within the speech bubbles produced by the dinosaur.
Notes with no rings around them are a quick tap.
Notes with one ring around them are a short press (half bubble).
Notes with two rings around them are a long press (full bubble).
3. The friendship meter of the dinosaur will then be displayed. The objective is to align the meter with the dark green zone within the green segment. Increase the dinosaur's friendship level by offering it food, such as a carrot. Access the menu and click on the "Feed" option to choose the food you wish to give. In case the dinosaur becomes overly excited, you can select the "Soothe" option to calm it down. Repeat this process as necessary.
4. When the friendship meter reaches the green zone, select "befriend" from the menu to offer the dinosaur a delectable Poppin cupcake, which can be purchased from Pippin in the village square. It's worth noting that certain dinosaurs may have a preference for specific flavors, such as crunchy or juicy.
5. To complete the process, players can gently stroke the dinosaur as a final gesture.
6. After successfully befriending the dinosaur, players can use the flute to give it instructions. They can make it follow them, whether it's back to the ranch, waiting, returning to the wilds, or even continuing to play its friend call in order to build trust. Regardless of the chosen instruction, players now have a new dinosaur companion to look after. As long as they keep it happy and take care of it, the dinosaur will stay at their ranch.
