Helium-3 (He-3) is a valuable resource in Starfield that has many applications, such as boosting weapon capabilities, fueling starships, and facilitating research breakthroughs. Although He-3 is relatively abundant, its extraction poses a unique challenge as it cannot be obtained using Cutters. This comprehensive guide presents a reliable solution for acquiring Helium in Starfield, ensuring a smooth and safe process without any risks of lung damage.

How to Get Helium

There are three ways for Starfield players to obtain Helium. They can either directly collect He-3 from a vein, utilize an extractor for automated mining, or purchase pre-made packs from merchants.

Collect He-3 From Active Veins

To obtain Helium, the most convenient method is to engage with gas vents. These vents, located on certain planets, release a green-yellow vapor comprised of active He-3 exhausts. To extract the Helium, players simply need to approach the vents and press the interact button (A on Xbox, X on PlayStation).

It is important to note that He-3 is a hazardous gas, and prolonged exposure can result in lung damage. Therefore, players are strongly advised to wear spacesuits resistant to toxins before deciding to gather Helium from these vents.

Place a He-3 Extractor Over a Deposit

To optimize your harvest, construct a He-3 extractor. Begin by identifying a planet abundant in Helium resources. Then, establish an Outpost on the chosen planet. Lastly, access the build menu and choose the "Helium Extractor" option to initiate the gas mining process.

Keep in mind that a functioning extractor necessitates a connection to a power generator. Additionally, for optimal production, it's advisable to connect the He-3 Extractor to a Gas Storage unit.

If the scanner does not display the locations of the He-3 mines, simply press X to activate the Outpost Beacon. Once the Beacon is activated, all available extractable minerals and gases will be conveniently showcased in the top left corner of the screen.

Purchase Helium from Vendors

All the mercantiles in major cities sell Helium. To buy some, head over to the Resources section in their inventory and pay four Credits per pack.

Best Planets to Farm Helium

The perfect planets for harvesting He-3 are Kurtz and Pontus. Kurtz is a Jemison moon located in the Alpha Centauri system, while Pontus is the moon of Erebus in the Olympus system. These planets are easily accessible early in the game and establishing an Outpost on them does not require any special upgrades.
