Earlier this year, tickets for Fan Fest sold out rapidly, despite being distributed through both a player-exclusive lottery and a random public queue. While the opening keynote will likely discuss the upcoming graphical update and offer glimpses of the yet-unnamed expansion, it is important to approach the excitement surrounding new Jobs with some level of realistic expectations.

FF14: Knowing Their Role

Square Enix is expected to announce the next Jobs to be added to Final Fantasy 14. In a reveal event earlier this year, the producer and director, Naoki Yoshida, shared that the new Jobs in the upcoming expansion, Endwalker, will include a Healer and a Melee DPS. The identities of these Jobs were later unveiled as Sage and Reaper. So far, Final Fantasy 14 has not introduced any new Jobs that belong to the same roles as the previous expansion, therefore it is unlikely that another Healer or Melee DPS will be announced.

Both the Tank and Healer roles are challenging to balance in Final Fantasy 14, making it unlikely for a fifth Tank to be added without a fifth Healer after the release of the Gunbreaker in the Shadowbringers expansion. Additionally, the Final Fantasy 14 development team may be occupied with balancing the existing 19 Jobs at maximum level. However, this leaves the ranged physical DPS and caster DPS roles as the most probable options for receiving a new Job in Final Fantasy 14.

FF14: The Case for Geomancy and Blitzball

The Geomancer is a popular speculation among players as a potential new caster DPS job for Final Fantasy 14. This job harnesses the power of the surrounding land to unleash long-range attacks, making it comparable to the Astrologian and White Mage, both of which are Healer roles. Interestingly, players have discovered hidden objects in the main story, leading them to believe that the next expansion may take place in the land of Meracydia. Such a setting could serve as the perfect backdrop for the introduction of Geomancers.

In recent chapters of the Hildibrand quests, the Warrior of Light has showcased impressive athletic abilities in various sports such as volleyball, soccer, and basketball. However, there is one sport in the Final Fantasy series that combines elements of these real-world sports - Blitzball. Blitzball originated in Final Fantasy 10 as Spira's primary spectator sport and has long been requested as a feature in the Manderville Gold Saucer. It is possible that the "Blitzer" could serve as a potential ranged physical DPS Job. With the ongoing Hildibrand quests and the recently released Final Fantasy 14 Aetherobics video, it remains uncertain if these hints will lead to anything significant.
