Highlights
Cyberpunk 2077 mods are slowly becoming active again after the release of the 2.0 update, but many are still unavailable for PC gamers.
Core mods such as Cyber Engine Tweaks and REDext have regained functionality, but it is important to note that other mods built upon these may still encounter compatibility issues.
Though certain widely-used mods may require additional time to be thoroughly upgraded, the 2.0 update has introduced fresh features, such as a revamped police system, enhanced skill trees, and an engaging storyline spanning 15 to 20 hours (inclusive of the DLC).
Following the release of the 2.0 update and the new Phantom Liberty DLC, several essential mods for Cyberpunk 2077 have once again become functional. Although this may result in an increase in Cyberpunk 2077's rankings on Steam, PC gamers still face limitations as certain mods are gradually being restored. However, the recent update, intended to mark the culmination of CD Projekt Red's redemption story following the game's troubled launch, has caused problems for PC gamers. CD Projekt Red made the decision to automatically disable all mods with the 2.0 update in order to prevent potential game-breaking issues resulting from incompatibilities with the updated code.
Now, it appears that the modding community is showing early signs of resurgence following the release of the Cyberpunk 2077 2.0 update. According to PC Gamer, essential Cyberpunk 2077 mods like Cyber Engine Tweaks and REDext are already functional once more. Although these projects may not be overly extravagant, they play a vital role in the modding community.
Cyberpunk Engine Tweaks is a foundational tool for modders of Cyberpunk 2077, granting them access to the game's internal scripting and enabling players to cheat. On the other hand, REDext is essential for the modding scene as it allows modders to utilize script extensions within the game. Once these two core mods are functioning, more projects will soon be up to date. However, it's important to note that many mods relying on these projects as a base may not currently be working as intended due to the ongoing need for updates in Cyber Engine Tweaks.
Unfortunately, numerous mods are currently unavailable as it requires individual efforts from creators to ensure they are fully updated. This means that highly anticipated Cyberpunk 2077 mods, such as those that transform the game into Blade Runner or those that enable gamers to play as characters like Ciri or Johnny Silverhand, may still take some time before becoming accessible. On the positive side, the recent 2.0 update has introduced a wealth of new content to Cyberpunk 2077. The update includes a complete overhaul of the police system, improved skill trees, additional perks, and an entirely new storyline that spans approximately 15 to 20 hours, including the DLC.
Cyberpunk 2077 is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
