Romance and farming sim games have always been popular, and fans of the genre will be excited to learn more about the available romance options in Fae Farm. This upcoming RPG sim takes place in the enchanting realm of Azoria. Going on dates, getting married, and starting a family are some of the most fulfilling experiences in farm sim games, alongside peaceful agricultural activities. Fae Farm, true to the genre, offers a range of NPCs to romance or form friendships with. However, the game also includes a few unexpected twists, particularly in its multiplayer aspect.
Fans can anticipate a wealth of content in this area from one of the most promising cozy games of 2023. Game Rant recently had the opportunity to talk to Isaac Epp, the game director of Fae Farm, who shared insights into the game's inclusive romance options and wedding features.
Fae Farm’s Inclusive Romance Options
Fae Farm offers inclusive romance options for farm sim fans, allowing players to romance 6 NPCs and build friendships with 15 NPCs. NPC characters in the game are interested in all players, regardless of their identity, as they are player-sexual, which is a common feature in video games. Players have the freedom to date any or all of the NPCs they choose, even during multiplayer. This means that while some players may be interested in romance, others can focus on other activities like fishing or questing. Unlike other farm sim games, such as Story of Seasons, Fae Farm doesn't require players to get married as part of the story or gameplay progression. This caters to players who are less interested in dating or marrying NPCs.
If the player is intrigued by them, they can mutually support one another, uncover more about each other, and go out on dates. Should they choose, once you reach your maximum level of connection with someone, you have the option to marry them, but it is not obligatory. While developing friendships and romantic relationships is typically an enjoyable aspect of the genre, it is also valuable to provide the choice and cater to players who are less inclined towards conventional norms within or outside of gaming.
How Weddings Work In Fae Farm
In Fae Farm, similar to the marriage candidates in Rivals for Story of Seasons, there is a potential element of competition when it comes to romance. If multiple players are interested in marrying an NPC, there can be some enjoyable outcomes. As explained by Epp, it becomes a "first come, first served" situation where you need to go on dates, give gifts, and work on building the relationship if you are the player who wants to propose. This is because each NPC can only be married to one player at a time, which aligns with the fictional context.
Epp also discussed the impact of dating and gift-giving on weddings, which resemble a community gathering. Epp mentioned that players can develop strong relationships with numerous NPCs, and those with the highest relationship scores will have the privilege of sitting in the front row at the players' weddings. This adds an interesting element for players who have pursued multiple romantic relationships and are curious to see how other NPCs will react when they get married. All in all, the romance options in Fae Farm look promising, and it will be exciting to encounter more of Azoria's NPCs when the game releases. Fae Farm will be available for PC and Switch starting on September 8th.
