Punishing: Gray Raven (often stylized as PGR) presents a wide array of shops and currencies, most of which are completely free to play but may pose challenges for new players. PGR showcases an extensive roster of 40+ playable characters, with additional characters regularly introduced each month. Similar to other free-to-play games, there are numerous cosmetic skins available for characters and weapons, obtainable through various methods such as the battle pass, shop bundles, direct microtransaction purchases, and in-game events.
Interestingly, PGR also provides players with the opportunity to acquire premium paid skins without spending any money! This feature, however, may not be immediately apparent to players as it involves a part of the game called the "dorm," along with the conversion of two distinct in-game currencies through a special shop.
What is the Dorm in Punishing Gray Raven?
Punishing Gray Raven offers players a feature called the dorm, which serves as player housing for chibi versions of the playable characters. In this mode, players can personalize rooms that can accommodate three chibi characters each. They can interact with these chibi characters or observe their interactions with each other.
The dorm is part of the game's daily system, where players are rewarded with premium currency for opening it once a day. However, players are not obligated to engage with the various systems within the dorm. They can simply close it after opening and choose not to explore the optional features.
How to Use PGR's Dorm System to Get Free Skins
For players seeking free premium skins, the dorm system is an essential resource that should not be overlooked. By participating in the system's daily activities, players can easily earn rewarding bonuses on a regular basis.
In order to earn rewards and enhance your dorm in the game, you can engage in different activities. These include creating furniture, assigning your adorable chibi characters to undertake tasks known as "chores," interacting with your chibi character by petting them a total of three times, and participating in various events within the dorm. By completing all the daily tasks within the dorm, players will be granted "dorm coins," a special currency that can be utilized to purchase a variety of items. These items include residence permits, which allow you to expand and customize your dorm rooms, gifts that contribute to strengthening your character's friendships, and most notably, coating sketches. The coating sketches serve as a valuable currency that can be used to obtain premium skins for free.
The players will receive three coins every day as a reward. Fortunately, there are five coating sketches available at a discounted price of exactly three coins each day. In addition to these daily rewards, players can also earn more coins through dorm events and other tasks that are not limited to daily activities. It is entirely up to the player whether they want to stick to purchasing the five discounted coating sketches or spend a little more (five coins instead of three) to acquire the slightly higher priced coating sketches and unlock skins at a faster rate.
What are Coating Blueprints in PGR?
After purchasing their initial coating sketches in PGR, the next step is understanding how these sketches are utilized. When players visit the coating (skin) shop, they will notice that most skins are available for sale twice – once in exchange for rainbow cards (PGR's premium currency) and once for a currency known as coating blueprints.
Typically, new skins will initially be exclusively offered for rainbow cards and then later become available for coating blueprints as well. The least expensive skins, priced at 98 rainbow cards (approximately USD $17), can usually be obtained for 49 coating blueprints. The prices continue to vary for other skins, depending on their initial release price, with required coating blueprints ranging from 49, 70, 90, to 110.
How to Exchange Coating Sketches for Coating Blueprints in PGR
Coating sketches serve as currency for exchanging coating blueprints. To initiate this exchange, players can visit the "coating exchange shop" nested under the exchange shop option. Every 25 coating sketches can be converted into a coating blueprint. For example, if a player only buys the discounted five coating sketches per day, it would take them over 200 days to afford a skin at the cheapest price of 49.
Obtaining skins through this method may not be the fastest, but it is incredibly easy and requires minimal effort beyond daily tasks and patience. It allows players to acquire in-game skins without any microtransactions. Additionally, players have the option to convert any extra dorm coins into non-discounted coating sketches. This becomes the most useful way to utilize the dorm coin currency once all the dorm rooms have been fully unlocked.
Punishing Gray Raven is now available for Mobile and PC. PC players can download the game directly through the Punishing Gray Raven website.
