Highlights
Genshin Impact's Battle Pass system, "Gnostic Hymn," offers both free and paid tiers with rewards for completing missions.
The paid Battle Pass offers players the opportunity to select a weapon once they reach level 30. However, not all of the new weapons are better than the previous options. The Talking Stick ranks as the lowest among the Battle Pass weapons, whereas the Serpent Spine and Solar Pearl still stand out as excellent choices for specific characters.
Genshin Impact offers the "Gnostic Hymn" Battle Pass system, which has both free and paid tiers. By completing daily, weekly, or patch-wide missions, players can earn rewards throughout the patch. In the paid Battle Pass, players can choose a weapon from a provided list as a reward when they reach level 30.
As Genshin Impact expands its world and offerings, the Battle Pass weapons have been updated. With version 4.0, five new weapons, one for each weapon class, have been introduced. While these new weapons offer different ways to build characters, they may not always be more versatile or superior to the older options. However, players can still choose the older weapons if they haven't acquired them all yet. This flexibility allows players to select weapons based on their specific needs and preferences.
Talking Stick
Primary Stat: 565 Base ATK
Secondary Stat: 18.4% Crit Rate
After being affected by Pyro, ATK will receive a boost of 16/20/24/28/32% for 15 seconds. The effect can only be triggered once every 12 seconds.
Additionally, after being affected by Hydro, Cryo, Electro, or Dendro, all Elemental DMG Bonuses will increase by 12/15/18/21/24% for 15 seconds. This effect can also be triggered once every 12 seconds.
The Talking Stick is currently ranked as the lowest among the Battle Pass weapons in Genshin Impact. Compared to other available options, its effect is not as viable for most characters since it requires the player's character to be affected by specific elements. While there may be some characters who can meet this requirement relatively easily, there are no claymore-wielding characters that can do so effortlessly and fully benefit from this effect.
The Viridescent Hunt
Moreover, the Talking Stick falls short even as a mere stat-boosting weapon compared to alternatives such as the Serpent Spine. The latter not only offers a higher Critical Rate but also provides more beneficial effects that cater to a wider range of claymore users. Consequently, the Talking Stick is generally not regarded as the most favorable option for the majority of players and characters, particularly when it comes to Battle Pass weaponry.Primary Stat: 510 Base ATK
Secondary Stat: Crit Rate: 27.6%
Effect: When landing a hit, there is a 50% possibility that Normal and Aimed Shot Attacks will create a Cyclone. The Cyclone will draw nearby enemies and deal 40/50/60/70/80% of ATK as damage to them every 0.5 seconds for 4 seconds. This effect can only happen once every 14/13/12/11/10 seconds.
The Viridescent Hunt is a good choice for characters who use bows and depend on normal or charged attacks. It works well with a variety of bow DPS characters. However, its special effect does not offer significant advantages in overall combat effectiveness.
Nonetheless, it can be a valuable asset for many bow characters thanks to its decent Crit Rate. This is especially true for players who do not have access to other suitable weapon options for those particular characters.
Deathmatch
Primary Stat: 454 Base ATK
Secondary Stat: 36.8% Crit Rate
Effect: When there are at least 2 nearby opponents, ATK is boosted by 16%/20%/24%/28%/32% and DEF is raised by 16%/20%/24%/28%/32%. In situations where there are less than 2 nearby opponents, ATK is increased by 24%/30%/36%/42%/48%.
The Deathmatch weapon used to be a popular choice, particularly for characters like Zhongli, Hu Tao, or Xiangling. However, its usefulness has declined over time as newer weapon options have been introduced. For example, the Catch, which is completely free-to-play, and the recently released polearm from the updated Battle Pass have surpassed it.
While the Deathmatch can still function as a stat stick for certain main DPS characters, its unique effect does not offer significant benefits to characters like Hu Tao. Hence, it is not considered one of the optimal alternatives when compared to options like Staff of Homa. Conversely, Ballad of the Fjords proves to be considerably more advantageous in such situations.
Scion of the Blazing Sun
Primary Stat: 565 Base ATK
Secondary Stat: 18.4% Critical Rate
Effect: When a Charged Attack successfully lands on an enemy, a Sunfire Arrow descends upon the struck target, inflicting damage equal to 60%/75%/90%/105%/120% of the wielder's Attack, and bestowing the Heartsearer effect upon the affected enemy for a duration of 10 seconds. Enemies affected by Heartsearer suffer 28%/35%/42%/49%/56% increased damage from Charged Attacks executed by the user. The Sunfire Arrow ability can be activated once every 10 seconds.
The Black Sword
The Viridescent Hunt is valuable for bow users who regularly or charge their attacks. However, the Scion of the Blazing Sun offers greater benefits specifically for characters like Ganyu, Tighnari, or Lyney who heavily rely on charged attacks, despite providing a lower critical hit value. Although it may not be among the top-ranked choices, it is still a worthwhile option for players aiming to build the aforementioned characters.
Primary Stat: 510 Base ATK
Secondary Stat: Critical Rate: 27.6%
Effect: Enhances damage output of both Normal and Charged Attacks by 20%/25%/30%/35%/40%. Moreover, restores HP equal to 60%/70%/80%/90%/100% of ATK when Normal and Charged Attacks result in a critical hit. This effect can activate once every 5 seconds.
The Black Sword was once highly regarded as a top choice for DPS-focused characters like Ayaka. However, although it is still a solid option, it is no longer as worthy of investment. This is particularly true considering that the recently introduced Battle Pass weapon offers even greater benefits for a broader range of characters, such as Alhaitham or Ayaka. Nonetheless, for those constructing a team composition that does not heavily depend on a healer, the Black Sword can still hold value. It grants a small healing effect to the primary DPS character while enabling the inclusion of more offensive support characters in the team.
Sacrificial Jade
Primary Stat: 454 Base ATK
Secondary Stat: 36.8% Crit Rate
When away from the battlefield for more than 5 seconds, Sacrificial Jade enhances Max HP by 32/40/48/56/64% and increases Elemental Mastery by 40/50/60/70/80. However, these enhancements will be deactivated once the wielder has been on the field for 10 seconds. Due to its significant Critical Rate boost and unique effects, Sacrificial Jade is highly appealing to players looking for a boost for their main and sub DPS characters. It not only enhances Max HP but also amplifies Elemental Mastery, making it especially beneficial for characters like Yae Miko or Nahida who can trigger Elemental Reactions while off the field.
Solar Pearl
However, Neuvillette is the character who can benefit the most from Sacrificial Jade compared to alternatives like Solar Pearl. As the only HP-scaling DPS catalyst character currently available, Neuvillette finds Sacrificial Jade to be the best choice for him, besides his signature 5-star weapon. While Sacrificial Jade may not hold top priority on its own, it holds significant value for players intending to build Neuvillette without his signature weapon.
Primary Stat: 510 Base ATK
Secondary Stat: 27.6% Critical Rate
Effect: When landing a Normal Attack, increase the damage of Elemental Skill and Elemental Burst by 20%/25%/30%/35%/40% for 6 seconds. Similarly, when using Elemental Skill or Elemental Burst, boost Normal Attack damage by 20%/25%/30%/35%/40% for 6 seconds.
Ballad of the Fjords
Solar Pearl remains an outstanding catalyst for any character focused on dealing damage, primarily due to its secondary stat that increases Crit Rate. What truly sets Solar Pearl apart is its unique effect that benefits all types of catalyst users, whether they rely on normal attacks, elemental skills, or elemental bursts. This versatility makes Solar Pearl an exceptional choice for a wide range of characters. Although Sacrificial Jade has its own advantages for specific characters, Solar Pearl's broad applicability and user-friendly nature make it one of the top-tier options for many players.
Primary Stat: 510 Base ATK
Secondary Stat: 27.6% Crit Rate
Effect: When there are at least 3 different Elemental Types in your party, Elemental Mastery will be increased by 120/150/180/210/240.
Serpent Spine
serves as a great alternative to Deathmatch, especially in team compositions that require triggering multiple Elemental Reactions simultaneously. It is an excellent choice for both polearm characters who specialize in close combat and those who excel at long-range attacks. Ballad of the Fjords surpasses Deathmatch in terms of versatility and usefulness for characters like Xiangling, Hu Tao, and Cyno, who greatly benefit from Elemental Reactions. Unlike Deathmatch, Ballad of the Fjords doesn't specifically enhance one particular stat, such as HP, ATK, or DEF. Hence, it is a viable option for any character that relies on these stats, as long as they also benefit from Elemental Mastery.Primary Stat: 510 Base ATK
Secondary Stat: Critical Rate: 27.6%
Effect: When a character remains on the field for 4 seconds, their damage output is increased by 6%/7%/8%/9%/10% while also receiving 3%/2.7%/2.4%/2.2%/2% more damage. This effect can stack up to a maximum of 5 times and will not be reset if the character switches out. However, whenever the character takes damage, the effect will decrease by 1 stack.
Serpent Spine is a standout option for any DPS claymore character, even among other 4-star weapons. Its unique effect allows characters to continuously increase their damage output the longer they stay in battle, surpassing the reliance on character stats alone. This means that regardless of whether a character's strength lies in HP, ATK, or DEF, the utility of Serpent Spine remains invaluable, as increased damage is always advantageous for a DPS character.
Furthermore, Serpent Spine offers a bonus to the character's Crit Rate, further enhancing their potential for damage. The only drawback at present is the lack of recent viable claymore characters in the game's meta, with Itto and Eula being the few remaining characters who remain moderately relevant.
Wolf-Fang
Primary Stat: 510 Base ATK
Secondary Stat: 27.6% Crit Rate
Effect: The Wolf-Fang sword is a top-notch weapon for sword DPS characters who specialize in utilizing their Elemental Skill and Elemental Burst attacks. It substantially enhances both their Critical Rate and overall damage, making it a perfect choice for characters such as Alhaitham, Ayato, Keqing, and potentially others in future updates. By equipping the Wolf-Fang sword, players can allocate their resources towards increasing Critical Damage without the need to concern themselves with Critical Rate, resulting in a significant boost to their overall DPS during battles.
