Genshin Impact players are expressing their dissatisfaction with the current state of the Geo element and are calling for significant changes to enhance the viability of playable Geo characters in endgame content. In the world of Genshin Impact, playable characters possess a Vision that aligns with one of the seven elemental affinities.
When Genshin Impact was initially released in September 2020, playable characters could possess a Vision from one of six elements: Anemo, Geo, Electro, Hydro, Pyro, and Cryo. However, the Traveler stands out as a unique individual in the realm of Teyvat, as they have the potential to unlock and utilize various elements by visiting Statues of the Seven, each representing a godlike being referred to as an Archon. Two years after the game's launch, the introduction of the seventh and final element, Dendro, took place in the expansive Sumeru region as part of Genshin Impact version 3.0. Once again, Genshin Impact players were able to unlock new abilities for the Traveler by venturing into this region and progressing through the main storyline.
Genshin Impact players are expressing their dissatisfaction with the Geo element, as they find the current state of Geo constructs to be too fragile and unreliable. This has led players to rely more on the raw damage output of characters like Arataki Itto, Zhongli, and Albedo, rather than utilizing their Geo abilities. As a result, many fans of the game are calling for significant buffs to the Geo element, including the implementation of a unique elemental reaction similar to Anemo's Swirl, instead of the current Crystallize reaction. Supporters of this change believe that it would enhance the overall damage output and usefulness of Geo characters and their respective elemental abilities.
On the other hand, some Genshin Impact fans, such as Reddit user ImNotSonicImBLONIC, still see potential in the current Crystallize reaction if it were to provide buffs based on the applied element. For instance, they propose that a Cryo elemental shield could increase a character's critical hit rate, while a Pyro elemental shield could create a powerful AoE shockwave upon landing a successful attack. ImNotSonicImBLONIC suggests that this alteration could make the Geo element a versatile option for team compositions, particularly in activities like the weekly Spiral Abyss domain.
The introduction of the new Fontaine region in an upcoming update may necessitate changes to the Geo element. If Genshin Impact fails to introduce new Geo characters with unique abilities beyond defense, the overall use of the Geo element may further diminish. Although the Crystallize reaction can be useful in certain scenarios, fans express concerns that elements like Pyro and Dendro may overshadow Geo over time as new updates are unveiled.
Nevertheless, HoYoverse values player feedback greatly and the increasing demand for Geo changes may inspire the developers to consider new ideas from the community. However, since Fontaine's Archon represents Hydro, the likelihood of new Geo characters being introduced in Genshin Impact version 4.0 appears to be low for now.
Genshin Impact is available now for Android, iOS, PC, PS4, and PS5. A Nintendo Switch version is in development.
