In the Demon Sword Master of Excalibur Academy series, the story takes place 1000 years in the past, after the defeat of the Six Dark Lords. The last surviving member, Leonis Death Magnus, escaped and used a spell to protect himself, preserving his body in an eternal slumber. He had hoped to return one day and plunge the world into darkness again.
Fast forward to the present, where a young girl named Riselia Ray Crystalia discovers the ancient ruins containing Leonis' body. Unintentionally, she brings him back to life, but to her surprise, the former Dark Lord now inhabits the body of a child. This allows him to remain undercover for a time.
Seizing this second chance at life, and with the help of Riselia, Leonis decides to investigate this world and learn what has happened while he was sleeping.
