Returnal: What Is Adrenaline & How To Increase It

Located in the center of the screen, there is a heartbeat line accompanied by a numerical value below it. This represents Selene's Adrenaline level, which ranges from 0 to 5. In order to raise their Adrenaline, players must defeat enemies without sustaining any damage from various sources, such as enemy attacks, traps, or hazardous elements found in environments like the red floor rooms in Returnal.

To increase Adrenaline by one whole point, players must eliminate three enemies. Therefore, they will need to achieve a total of 15 kills without incurring any damage to reach the maximum Adrenaline level of 5.0. However, any damage received from any source will instantly reset the Adrenaline level back to 0. Nonetheless, each complete level of Adrenaline provides Selene with an accumulated boost.
