Are There Summons in FF16?
: Can Players Summon Eikons in Final Fantasy 16?How to Use Eikons
Summoning Eikons in Final Fantasy 16 is not as straightforward as it was in previous games. The process is rather complex, but in essence, players cannot summon Eikons freely like they used to. Instead, fully manifesting an Eikon is reserved for crucial moments in the game's storyline. However, players do have the opportunity to control Ifrit and Phoenix during certain playable sections when they are fully manifested.
Most of the Eikons discovered within the game are only partially utilized by Clive in gameplay. Once Clive obtains the power of an Eikon, he can switch to it during combat to harness its abilities and alter the elemental aspect of his spells.
Each Eikon operates as a stance, altering the Eikonic Feat, abilities, and elemental attack. The Eikonic abilities generally encompass a less potent rendition of the respective Eikon's trademark attack, which can be accessed and utilized alongside other Eikonic abilities.
Abilities such as Phoenix Shift have the potential to augment Clive's mobility, whereas abilities like Ramuh's Blind Justice unveil fresh avenues for inflicting damage and executing combos. Certain abilities, like Garuda's Deadly Embrace and Titan's Titanic Block, introduce entirely novel combat choices, encompassing offensive and defensive maneuvers.
Generally speaking, each Eikon offers substantial combat capabilities even though Clive faces difficulties in summoning them correctly. Hence, although players may not be able to fully summon the majority of the Eikons, they still play a crucial role in both the gameplay and the narrative.
Playing as Eikons
There are a pair of Eikons who are actually playable during certain parts of the game's main story, so spoilers ahead for players that don't wish to know about this.

Phoenix becomes playable during the game's opening and certain other moments, enabling players to direct fireballs and evade incoming attacks. These sections follow a set path, and players must inflict sufficient damage to advance to the subsequent stage of the battle.
On the other hand, Ifrit, another playable Eikon, is more frequently utilized in major fights throughout the game. Ifrit possesses significantly enhanced versions of Clive's regular moveset, along with distinct Eikonic abilities and his exclusive talent, "Wildfire." The Wildfire skill empowers Ifrit to swiftly avoid attacks and swiftly approach enemies.
