Marvel's Spider-Man 2 has finally released its highly anticipated gameplay trailer, much to the delight of fans who have been eagerly waiting since its announcement two years ago. The trailer offers a substantial showcase of the game's beloved gameplay mechanics, while also confirming some of the most talked-about features.
Fans are thrilled to learn that players will be able to explore Queens in this upcoming game, and that Kraven the Hunter will take on the role of the primary antagonist. Additionally, players will have the ability to switch between Miles Morales and Peter Parker as they progress through the game.
However, the biggest reveal in the trailer was the confirmation that Peter Parker will be wearing the iconic black Symbiote suit. This suit not only gives Peter's Advanced suit a sleek black makeover, but it also grants him a range of new and powerful abilities that are sure to make for an exciting gameplay experience.
Every Symbiote Ability Marvel's Spider-Man 2 Has Revealed So Far
As Kraven the Hunter and his henchmen surround a building in a quiet Queens suburb, Peter Parker emerges from the basement in his Symbiote suit. Its tendrils quickly wrap around him as he ambushes the soldiers and takes them down with ease. Marvel's Spider-Man 2's trailer then seamlessly transitions into gameplay, with Peter demonstrating one of his brand new Symbiote abilities. By holding down L1 and pressing one of the face buttons, Spidey charges his arm back and launches a collection of tendrils forward into two henchmen, knocking one of them to the ground and sticking the other to a nearby vehicle. He then follows up with another Symbiote ability, propelling himself into the air and dashing towards a group of soldiers, launching them upward and opening them up to further combos.
After performing a devastating slam on his opponent, Symbiote Suit Spidey unleashes a unique finisher utilizing his tendril arm to pummel his enemy's face and throw them back down to the pavement. A few moments later, he showcases another finisher where he grabs a henchman with his massive tendril arm and thrusts them mercilessly into the concrete.
As the reinforcements arrive, Spidey demonstrates his impressive defensive capabilities by creating a shield with his Symbiote tendrils, successfully blocking an oncoming attack. Without missing a beat, he counters with a brutal kick to the gut. But the real showstopper is yet to come. Using his tendrils once again, Spider-Man grabs hold of four enemies at once, lifting them high into the air and slamming them down with immense force, rendering each of them instantly unconscious.
Currently, the confirmed Symbiote abilities are the only ones known for Marvel's Spider-Man 2. However, there is an unused icon on the HUD that suggests the existence of at least one other main Symbiote ability. Marvel's Spider-Man 2's Symbiote suit appears to be drawing inspiration from previous Spider-Man games, TV shows, and movies, as the Symbiote abilities closely resemble those depicted in the past.
Furthermore, it seems that Peter Parker will embark on a familiar journey with the Symbiote suit, as it immediately alters his behavior for the worse. It remains to be seen how long players will be able to wield the Symbiote suit in Marvel's Spider-Man 2, and whether it will only affect Peter or other characters as well.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is scheduled to release in fall 2023 for PS5.
