AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution 3 (FSR
is now available in Forspoken and will soon be available in Immortals of Aveum.
FSR3 combines AMD's Fluid Motion Video frame generation technology with upscaling for improved performance.
FSR3 is compatible with AMD Radeon RX 5000, 6000, and 7000 series graphics cards, as well as Nvidia RTX 20, 30, and 40 series GPUs. The eagerly awaited AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution 3 (FSR3) has finally been released. Currently, only two games support this revolutionary technology. Forspoken, which is one of the two games, has already received the FSR3 update. As for the other game, Immortals of Aveum, it will be getting the update later today. Gamers got their first glimpse of FSR3 in Forspoken at Gamescom last month, and now they can enjoy the enhanced performance on their Radeon Rx 7000 and 6000 series graphics cards.
AMD has launched its newest upscaling technology, FidelityFX Super Resolution 3 (FSR3), as a competitor to Nvidia's DLSS 3. Expected to be released in 2023, FSR3 combines AMD's Fluid Motion Video frame generation technology with FSR upscaling. Rumors speculated that Bethesda's Starfield would support FSR3, but this turned out to be untrue. However, Starfield will include DLSS support.
Recently, AMD announced the official release of the FSR3 update for the game Forspoken, with the Immortals of Aveum update following shortly. This announcement was made by Frank Azor, Chief Architect of Gaming Solutions and Marketing at AMD, through a tweet last night. The company has now confirmed through a blog post that Forspoken received the update at 9 a.m. ET, and Immortals of Aveum will receive it later in the day. Forspoken, currently available on PS5 and PC, is the first game to support FSR3.
FSR3 introduces frame generation and the new "Native AA" quality mode, enhancing the gaming experience with smoother frame rendering. Leveraging the advanced Fluid Motion Frames (AFMF) optical flow technology, this feature demonstrates remarkable performance improvements. According to the company's provided data, Forspoken exhibits a substantial leap from 58 FPS (with FSR3 disabled) to a remarkable 201 FPS (with FSR3 Performance Mode and frame generation enabled) on the Radeon RX 7900 XTX when running at 4K resolution with Ultra High settings. Similarly, the RX 6800 XT witnesses a significant boost from 37 FPS to 129 FPS, while the RX 7600 experiences a noteworthy performance enhancement from 38 FPS to 118 FPS at 1440p resolution.

To mitigate the delay caused by image generation, FSR3 incorporates its own technology for reducing latency, which is compatible with all GPUs. However, in order for the latency reduction to take effect, the games must include support for this feature. In combination with the Anti-Lag+ technology, the supported games can experience even further reduction in latency.
Additionally, AMD has announced that 12 more games will receive FSR3 support. Unfortunately, Starfield is not included in this list. The roster of supported games encompasses titles such as Cyberpunk 2077, Eve Online, Frostpunk 2, Space Marine 2, Black Myth Wukong, Crimson Desert, among others. At present, there is no specified timeline for when these games will incorporate FSR3 support. Interestingly, Cyberpunk 2077 recently received DLSS 3.5 support through its latest patch.
FidelityFX Super Resolution 3 is compatible with AMD Radeon graphics cards from the RX 5000, RX 6000, and RX 7000 series. Additionally, it is also compatible with Nvidia GPUs, specifically the RTX 20, 30, and 40 series.
