The plot of Final Fantasy 16 took an unexpected turn in the previous main scenario quest. Clive and his companions successfully destroyed one of the Mothercrystals, but unfortunately, it came at a great cost. Adding to the turmoil, a new enigma emerged. While Ultima's intentions remain unclear, this formidable entity shows a particular interest in Clive's abilities, but is currently confined by Joshua.
Following these significant events, a span of five years transpires, marking the beginning of the subsequent set of main scenario quests. This guide will provide Final Fantasy 16 players with an overview of what to anticipate as they embark on the main scenario quests titled "Home, Sweet Home" and "The Gathering Storm".
This walkthrough contains spoilers, so players should proceed with caution.
Five Years Later
After a prolonged series of cutscenes, players of Final Fantasy 16 will be thrust into an arena, confronting a multitude of adversaries. This presents an ideal opportunity to put Clive's received abilities from Cid to the test. Upon vanquishing several enemy groups, players will then engage in a battle against a boss. This particular boss lacks any remarkable traits and can be overcome by employing the typical strategy of evading its assaults and subsequently weakening it. Subsequent to defeating the boss, a fresh sequence of cutscenes will ensue, leading players into the subsequent main scenario quest titled "Home, Sweet Home".
Talk to Otto
Follow the red waypoint and utilize the elevator to ascend. Proceed along the red waypoint to reach Otto and engage in conversation with him. Subsequently, head to the right in the direction of the map room and have a discussion with Vivian. This action prompts a cutscene where players gain insight into the current condition of the realm and the notable alterations that have transpired in the last five years.
Once that is completed, inform Harpocrates. Harpocrates oversees the Thousand Tomes feature, allowing players to revisit any aspect of the storyline in Final Fantasy 16. It would be wise for players to visit the blacksmith, as their stock has been updated. When ready, proceed towards Clive's chambers. In order to advance the story, interact with the reading table. Following a series of cutscenes, "Home, Sweet Home" concludes and "The Gathering Storm" begins. Leave Clive's chambers and descend the stairs to speak with Otto about Martha's disappearance. After this brief cutscene, the side quest "Caulk & Bawl" will become available near the entrance to the Hideaway. Players should take the necessary preparations before using fast travel to reach Martha's Rest.
Find Martha
Upon arrival at Martha's Rest, make your way to the inn. Enter to initiate a cutscene and gather information about Martha's current location. Following the cutscene, proceed towards the Glaidemond Abbey. As you reach the bridge, a cutscene will automatically play, revealing that Martha is injured but still alive. She requests the assistance of Clive and Jill to aid the Bearers at the abbey.
Continue your journey towards the abbey, confronting any monsters that obstruct your path. Upon entering the abbey, a cutscene will be triggered, accompanied by a battle against a group of imperials. After the battle concludes, head to the left towards the house adjacent to the abbey. Enter the house to trigger another cutscene.
Go to Riddock's Jump
After the cutscene concludes, proceed towards Riddock's Jump with the remnants. Along the journey, players will come across Ahirman, a formidable monster. Ahirman is an optional boss categorized as a Hunt, and defeating these bosses rewards players with valuable resources and various items.
For those who opt to engage in battle against Ahirman, caution is advised when it casts its Doom spell. If a massive orange circle materializes, quickly move away from it to evade immediate demise.
Once players have successfully escaped from the clutches of Ahirman or emerged victorious over it, they will be granted the freedom to proceed to the next destination known as Riddock's Jump. Upon reaching the water's edge, they must press the 'X' button to disperse the remaining remnants. Following this, it is advisable to employ the fast travel option to return to the tranquil locale of Martha's Rest and engage in a conversation with Martha to progress further into the unfolding narrative. Although the impending objective involves making a return to the secretive Hideaway, players may opt to seize the opportunity to undertake a recently unlocked side quest appropriately entitled "The White-Winged Wonder".
The detour is necessary because this particular side quest offers a truly unique reward upon its completion. Any other similar side quest will also have an added advantage similar to this one, making it highly advantageous for players to deviate from their original path and undertake these quests. The reward for completing this specific side quest is the acquisition of the chocobo mount, which enables players to travel at a much faster pace. Once prepared, use the fast travel option to return to the Hideaway. Engage in a conversation with Gav to initiate a captivating cutscene.
After watching the cutscene, players will gain access to various exciting features. Firstly, there's the Patron's Whisper, enabling players to earn rewards as they successfully complete side quests. Secondly, the Hunt Board allows players to locate and conquer formidable foes known as notorious marks, such as Ahirman. To continue advancing in the story, simply open the world map and fast travel to Hawk's Cry Cliff to commence the next main scenario quest.
