Treasure goblins in Diablo 4 are often seen as lackluster compared to their counterparts in Diablo 3, leaving players hopeful that Blizzard will reevaluate their design. In addition to the absence of their distinctive laugh, treasure goblins in Diablo 4 appear to be lacking in wealth. As a result, players find it more advantageous to farm dungeons and Helltides for valuable loot, as defeating a treasure goblin is akin to opening a Resplendent Chest. The excitement of encountering a minion of Greed is noticeably absent in Diablo 4, and while it may not be a defining aspect of the game, fans deeply yearn for the presence of the beloved treasure goblins from previous iterations.
During the Campfire Chat on June 16, Blizzard demonstrated a willingness to listen to the Diablo community, promising to gradually incorporate various quality-of-life features that players have longed for in Diablo 4 over the coming months. Given this assurance, it is not implausible to assume that treasure goblins may also be addressed if players continue to express their frustrations and provide valuable feedback.
Complaints about the treasure goblins in Diablo 4 have been gaining attention in the community. Unlike in Diablo 3, where there were various types of treasure goblins, Diablo 4 only has one type that is easy to defeat and drops very little valuable loot. This lack of variety and rewarding drops has disappointed players.
Considering the limited availability of gold as a currency in Diablo 4, it would be well-received by the community to have a treasure goblin that exclusively drops a substantial amount of coins when defeated. Additionally, a simple fix for the underwhelming treasure goblins would be to guarantee at least one legendary item drop per kill. While players appreciate the concept of treasure goblins in Diablo 4, their current implementation leaves much to be desired and they could be a more enticing feature in the game's endgame content.
Diablo 4 is currently accessible on various platforms including PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
