Baldur's Gate 3
There are a variety of companions available, each offering intriguing classes and subclasses for players to enlist.
Hirelings can be recruited as companions for a fee of one hundred gold per class, making them the optimal choice.
With the help of NPC Withers, players can customize their Hirelings to create their ideal party setup in Baldur's Gate 3. Throughout their journey across the Storm Coast towards Baldur's Gate, players have the opportunity to recruit companions who offer unique classes and a variety of subclasses to choose from. However, certain companions may not fulfill all the requirements for the player's perfect party or may eventually decide to part ways.
8 Sina'zith – Monk
Thankfully, with assistance from NPC Withers, players have the opportunity to enlist the aid of a Hireling by paying a small sum of one hundred gold. It is noteworthy that there is a Hireling available for every class in Baldur's Gate 3, making them unequivocally the most advantageous choice for players to recruit. The inclusion of the Monk class in Baldur's Gate 3 was only introduced with the game's full release. While none of the main companions possess this class initially, there is a possibility to transform them into Monks through interactions with Withers. Alternatively, players can also acquire the Githyanki character named Sin'zith, who happens to be a Monk.
7 Ver'yll Wenkiir – Ranger
In contrast to Lae'zel, Sina'zith's backstory distinguishes her as an outcast among her people, primarily due to her unusual choice to pursue a Monk lifestyle. This particular class exhibits great potential in combat, offering players the freedom to experiment with various actions, all without necessitating the permanent inclusion of this Githyanki in their group.
Unlike its predecessor, the fifth edition of Dungeons and Dragons, Baldur's Gate 3 offers an exhilarating revamp to the ranger class. However, players looking to recruit Minsc will have to wait until the game's third and final act, resulting in a shortage of long-range fighters until then.
6 Varanna Sunblossom – Fighter
Fortunately, thanks to the aid of Ver'yll Wenkiir, players will now have an additional ranger at their disposal in the meantime. As these characters are enlisted at the initial level and the class doesn't determine its subclass until higher levels, Ver'yll bestows upon the player an even greater level of influence over their decision compared to other Hirelings.
Despite Lae'zel being the primary companion for the fighter class in Baldur's Gate 3, certain players may perceive her constant dissent towards their decisions, particularly when opting for heroic choices.
A straightforward method to circumvent this problem while still benefiting from the aid of a fighter is to employ Varanna Sunblossom. Varanna is an equally valuable Fighter, just like the Ranger. The subclass for the Fighter class can only be chosen at higher levels, allowing the player to decide among all three options to transform Varanna into a customized Hireling.
5 Maddala Deadeye – Rogue
A Rogue plays a vital role in the group, particularly when it comes to unlocking chests or doors. Astarian, similar to Lae'zel, is a party member who appreciates the player's immoral actions and sassy responses towards NPCs.
Therefore, players need to become accustomed to witnessing the disapproval of the pale elf when assuming the role of a courageous hero. If players become weary of the opinion of this rogue, they have the option to effortlessly substitute him with Maddala Deadeye. Once again, players retain the freedom to personalize this Hireling according to their preferences, as the subclass will be chosen at a later stage.
4 Kerz – Paladin
Unbeknownst to many, there exists a companion within the realm of Baldur's Gate 3 who faithfully embodies the principles of a Paladin. Answering to the name of Minthara, this formidable Drow character can only be enlisted by those daring enough to partake in the malevolent act of aiding the Goblins in their takeover of the Grove.
Unless players take this course of action they will never get the chance to recruit her. Luckily, Withers has another option available with the help of Kerz, the Half-Orc Paladin. Despite already having selected their Oath, Kerz can be transformed into an Oath Breaker instead of sticking to their original choice. Nevertheless, Kerz remains an excellent Tank for any party.
3 Eldra Luthrinn – Barbarian
Likewise, Karlach is another alternative companion that players may unintentionally overlook or opt not to recruit at the beginning of their Baldur's Gate 3 journey. Consequently, players will find themselves without a Barbarian, a valuable asset for tanking in any party.
Thankfully, Withers once again offers an ideal choice for players seeking a character filled with unbridled rage. Meet Eldra Luthrinn, a formidable option even though she may be of shorter stature as a Gold Dwarf. Eldra possesses an innate power that makes her a formidable adversary against the cultists of the Absolute. Additionally, players have the freedom to select a subclass for this Dwarf, further enhancing the party's overall abilities.
2 Brinna Brightsong – Bard
Unlike other classes in Baldur's Gate 3, the Bard class lacks a companion associated with it. In the event that players opt not to play as a Bard, it would be beneficial to recruit the Hireling Brinna Brightsong.
1 Zenith Feur'sel – Cleric
Bringing Brinna to the party with her vibrant and cheerful name is certain to uplift the player and their comrades, ultimately enhancing their chances of conquering battles effortlessly. Bards, being versed in various skills, make a valuable asset to the team, despite the initial requirement of a hundred gold coins to enlist their services.
Among all the Hirelings you can choose from, the most exceptional option offered by Withers is Zenith Feur'sel, the Light Domain Cleric. While Shadowheart is undoubtedly a valuable addition to the team, there are instances where a player might require a different domain, and there is also the possibility of Shadowheart departing from the player's side.
Zenith is a valuable member of the team, serving as an exceptional support character. He has the ability to safeguard the party, even stepping up to the front lines if necessary. Although a Life Domain Cleric would offer additional benefits, players are highly satisfied with the alternative provided by Baldur's Gate 3. The PC version of Baldur's Gate 3 is currently available, with the PlayStation 5 version set to release on September 6th, 2023.
