Unleashing Mykhailo Mudryk: Chelsea Manager Mauricio Pochettino Urges Enhanced Tactical Awareness for £885m Winger

Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk disappoints in goalless draw with Bournemouth, failing to score in 19 Premier League appearances Blues boss Mauricio Pochettino emphasizes the need for Mudryk to improve his understanding of the game What lies ahead for Chelsea?

Mauricio Pochettino feels that Mykhailo Mudryk should have a better understanding of the game after his lackluster performance in Chelsea's 0-0 draw against Bournemouth. Mudryk, who was making his first start of the season, was substituted in the 63rd minute. His struggles at Chelsea persist, as the Ukrainian player has yet to score a goal in the Premier League in the 19 matches he has played.

Mudryk transferred to Stamford Bridge from Shakhtar Donetsk in January, signing an eight-and-a-half-year contract. However, he has not made a strong impression so far. Pochettino acknowledges that the 22-year-old requires additional time to adjust to the pace of the Premier League. The Argentine stated, "He is showing signs of improvement. He must continue learning as the Premier League is known for its high speed and intensity."

"I think it's about understanding the game better, try to be more connected sometimes with the team.

"We need to give the time and to give the tools for him to improve during the season."

Mudryk made his season debut at Bournemouth, which marked Chelsea's £1 billion spending spree since their takeover in May last year. However, their investment has failed to yield success on the field, as the dull goalless draw against Bournemouth only earned them a total of five points from their first five matches.

Chelsea have scored only five goals in the Premier League this season, which is the lowest number they have achieved after five games in a top-flight campaign since 1995-96 (5), when they finished 11th.

Despite having multiple opportunities at the Vitality Stadium on Sunday, the Blues squandered them, prompting Pochettino to acknowledge the need for composure in front of the goal in order to overcome their scoring problems.

"We must strive to be more determined in our approach, focusing on enhancing our effectiveness in front of the goal. It's imperative to maintain composure, although it can be challenging for players in such situations. However, we must refrain from placing blame on anyone."

After the final whistle at Bournemouth, a number of Chelsea supporters expressed their dissatisfaction with boos. The team's 0-0 draw in the match has resulted in them occupying the 14th position in the league, with only one victory in their initial five games.

Pochettino's team faced a chorus of boos from the fans after their loss to Nottingham Forest at home before the international break.

"I won't request patience from the fans," stated the former Tottenham manager. "They are free to express themselves however they wish."

"We cannot put excuses because I think it was a club decision to do what we need to do but that is the process that we need to be strong in our belief.
