In the Festival of Universes update for Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2, players were introduced to a new and exciting game mode called "Cross-Versus". This game mode offers a distinct experience, as it allows players to form teams of three and engage in a thrilling contest that combines both PVE and PVP elements. The unique aspect of Cross-Versus is that it puts all players on an equal footing, starting them off at level one and allowing them to progress up to level seven as they complete objectives and earn points. The ultimate goal is to defeat a boss, which will bring the match to an end.
How to Start Cross-Versus
To form or join a room for Cross-Versus gameplay, players should make their way to the Time Machine Station in Conton City. In this location, they will come across a new non-playable character (NPC) situated near the Transfer Shop Clerk. Engaging in conversation with the Cross-Versus NPC grants players access to the Cross-Versus Menu, while interacting with the adjacent robot provides access to the Cross-Versus Tutorials.
How Cross-Versus Works
In Cross-Versus, players start at level one and their equipped outfit and/or QQ Bang do not affect their stats. They are unable to bring Ultimate skills or Super Souls into the match. However, players can still utilize their other skills such as evasion and awoken skills, allowing for a certain degree of customization within the given restrictions. Furthermore, items are not permitted for use during a Cross-Versus match.
Upon selecting "READY!" after joining a room, players will be divided into two rival teams of three and placed into a map. The map features various enemies, collectibles, and objectives that allow players to accumulate points. By acquiring enough points, players will level up and receive a stat boost, with the maximum level being seven for this game mode.
The objective of Cross-Versus is to either achieve the specified number of points before the opposing team or defeat the boss. A team's boss room will only become accessible once they have obtained half of the required points. This means that players cannot immediately rush to the boss and attempt to overpower it. The first team to reach the target number of points or successfully defeat their boss will emerge as the winner.
How to Earn Mission Points
In Cross-Versus, players can earn Mission Points by defeating enemies, collecting them with their scouter, or accomplishing special mission objectives. As the round progresses, stronger enemies will spawn, offering higher points when defeated. One of the special objectives, called "Crystal Demolition," involves smashing large crystals scattered across the mission area. Breaking a crystal and stepping into the resulting beam of light grants Mission Points.
The second unique objective, known as "Point Rally," involves players searching for large glowing spots within the Mission Area. These spots can be interacted with, resulting in the appearance of glowing checkpoints in the nearby vicinity. By flying through these checkpoints, players can earn Mission Points and make the specific checkpoint disappear. If all the checkpoints are successfully hit by at least one team member, players will be rewarded with additional mission points.
How Players can Lose Mission Points
Defeat in battle can result in the loss of mission points for a player. However, there is no need to worry as they will quickly respawn and their level will remain unaffected. It is crucial to avoid overextending oneself, as this is the primary way in which players lose mission points. This caution becomes particularly important in Cross-Versus mode, where players are not allowed to utilize any items. One area where extra caution is advised is the boss room, as players from one team can infiltrate the opposing team's boss room to aid the boss and cause trouble.
How to Get Ultimate Attacks in Cross-Versus
In Cross-Versus, players are unable to bring their own Ultimate Attacks. Instead, they are required to acquire them within the mission area. As players navigate through the mission area, accomplishing tasks and engaging with NPCs, they may come across items marked with a blue question mark.
When collected, these items will provide the player with a random Ultimate Attack. If a player already possesses two ultimate attacks, collecting another item will give them the choice to replace one of their existing attacks with the new one. The discarded skill will be left behind for another player to retrieve.
How to Win Cross-Versus
In order to emerge victorious in Cross-Versus, players have two possible routes.
The initial route involves achieving the desired number of mission points ahead of the opposing team. This approach is considered the more secure choice and involves players consistently accumulating points at a rapid pace.
To win in the game, players have two main options. The first is to complete missions and earn mission points until half of the target number is reached. This unlocks the boss arena, where players can challenge a powerful boss. However, there is a risk involved, as the rival team can also enter the boss arena, offering assistance to the boss. Despite the danger, this alternative win condition is highly rewarding.
Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 is playable on various platforms, including PS4, PS5, PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch.
