Despite the Johto region starters fading from the limelight, they continue to captivate Pokemon enthusiasts, including this particular fan who has devised their own Mega Evolution concepts.

For those unfamiliar, Mega Evolutions are a feature introduced in the sixth generation of Pokemon games. These evolutions allow certain Pokemon to surpass their final evolutionary stage, granting them a new form. While the latest core Pokemon games have moved away from Mega Evolutions, they still exist in Pokemon GO.

The Johto starter Mega Evolutions, created by Reddit user PhatmonMonstraros, have gained attention in the Pokemon community. The artist has skillfully built upon the original designs of these starters while still keeping their distinctive features. Among the three, Meganium closely resembles its original form but with the addition of fur-like leaves on its sides and neck. It also features pairs of flowers on its neck and shoulders. Typhlosion has undergone the most significant changes, including a modified color scheme, a flaming head, and tufts of fur. Feraligatr appears to have a more muscular physique and enhanced body spikes, giving it a gym-ready appearance.

The concept art has gained popularity among other Pokemon fans on Reddit. Within hours of its posting, the artwork received hundreds of upvotes. Many fans praised the designs of Typhlosion and Feraligatr in particular. Although some fans appreciated the Mega Evolution design of Meganium, it did not generate the same level of excitement as another fan-made Mega Evolution for Meganium. This alternate design focused on a single flower around Meganium's neck, transforming it into a massive blossom.

PhatmonMonstraros, the talented artist behind the Mega Evolution designs for Meganium, Typhlosion, and Feraligatr, has also created other impressive Pokemon artwork. A few months ago, they unveiled a remarkable Paradox form for Kecleon, transforming it into a Normal/Ghost-type and incorporating transparent sections in its body. This version of Kecleon also features three horns and more pronounced head frills, drawing inspiration from the aforementioned designs.

With their successful artwork for second and third-generation Pokemon, it appears that PhatmonMonstraros has a particular affinity for older generations. However, it will be intriguing to see what they come up with next.
