Final Fantasy 14 is having its third crossover event with Final Fantasy 11, but this one will be much bigger than previous collaborations.

The upcoming expansion will introduce a captivating new Alliance raid series, divided into three patches, offering players a captivating glimpse into the world of Final Fantasy 11. Anticipation from fans, both seasoned and past players, is high for this affectionate tribute, even for those less familiar with the Final Fantasy 11 universe.

Final Fantasy 14's upcoming Alliance raid will be an extensive collaboration with Final Fantasy 11, marking the third crossover between the two games. However, this collaboration will surpass the previous ones in scale and magnitude.

During the second Fan Festival for Final Fantasy 14, an abundance of fresh details regarding Dawntrail were unveiled. Players were introduced to the Viper, which is the initial addition among several new jobs making their way to Final Fantasy 14. Moreover, attendees were treated to another comprehensive preview of the expansion's enhanced graphics update.

During the convention keynote, Final Fantasy 14 unveiled the exciting details about the upcoming new expansion – the subject of the 24-man Alliance raid. Aptly named Echoes to Vana’diel, this captivating raid series offers players a unique opportunity to experience elements of Final Fantasy 11, the original Final Fantasy MMO that predates even World of Warcraft. While specific information about the characters, bosses, and locations involved remains scarce, players can eagerly anticipate the first raid's release in the Dawntrail Patch 7.1, with subsequent raids arriving in 7.3 and 7.5, respectively.

Interestingly, this marks the third collaboration between Final Fantasy 14 and Final Fantasy 11. The initial crossover event, Burgeoning Dread, was a modest affair that rewarded players with a Shantotto minion and took place solely in 2014. The second event, Maiden’s Rhapsody, a grander celebration initially commemorating FF11's final expansion, was held in 2015 and granted players the iconic armor of Iroha as a coveted reward. This event subsequently recurred in 2017, 2020, and most recently in 2022, though Echoes of Vana’diel stands apart as an expansive and enduring Alliance raid, offering players evergreen content rather than a small and time-limited event.

Fans are eagerly anticipating what awaits them in Echoes of Vana'diel, the upcoming release of Final Fantasy 14. Although Final Fantasy 11 did not have as large a player base as FF14, this longstanding MMO still maintains a devoted fan community. Many current and former FF11 players have transitioned to Final Fantasy 14, creating a strong connection between the two games. As such, the new Alliance raid in Echoes of Vana'diel is expected to warmly embrace these fans and serve as a heartfelt tribute.

Drawing inspiration from previous successful collaborations with Final Fantasy Tactics and NieR: Automata, Final Fantasy 14's alliance raids can provide players with a glimpse of what to anticipate in the Dawntrail collaboration with Final Fantasy 11. These raids have been incredibly enjoyable, offering opportunities to acquire famous outfits from previous games while seamlessly blending the lore of both worlds. Therefore, even players who are unfamiliar with Final Fantasy 11 should find Echoes of Vana'diel to be a captivating and pleasurable experience.

Final Fantasy 14 is available now for PC, PS4, and PS5, with an Xbox Series X/S version launching in Spring 2024.
