In a decade, From Software has returned to its mecha action series with Armored Core 6. Fans of the series will be delighted to find the same beloved in-depth mecha customization. Additionally, the game incorporates mechanics and gameplay similarities from the popular Soulsbourne series.
The combat introduces a new AC Overload mechanic, reminiscent of Sekiro's stance breaking, encouraging players to maintain an offensive approach rather than relying on defensive maneuvers. Players are susceptible to being staggered, just like the enemies, providing a potential halt to progress. This guide aims to provide an understanding of the fundamentals of staggering and recommends the most effective weapons to stagger enemies in Armored Core 6.
How to Stagger Enemies

Every enemy will have two meters above their mech/vehicle. The health meter is located at the bottom, while the stagger meter is positioned on top. Strong impact weapons will fill the stagger meter with yellow upon hitting them. Once the meter reaches its capacity, it will flash red, and the enemy will experience a temporary stun. This provides the perfect opportunity for players to strike and inflict direct damage. To enhance their direct damage capabilities, players can upgrade their power in OS Tuning. The player's own stagger meter is situated at the bottom center of the HUD, just above the boost meter. By equipping parts with higher armor stability, players can reduce the likelihood of being staggered and maintain their advantage in combat.
Pulse Blade
The pulse blade is readily available and stands out as one of the most powerful melee weapons in the game. Particularly effective against foes with pulse shields, it can also be charged for a mightier assault. Swiftly dismantling an enemy's stagger meter, it serves as an excellent follow-up weapon when faced with a staggered opponent.
Gatling Gun
The Gatling Guns are available for purchase once you have successfully completed Mission 11: Attack the Watchpoint. These powerful arm weapons come at a cost of 170,000 COAM each, making them quite a valuable investment. While they may be a bit on the heavier side for some arm sets, the benefits of dual-wielding them cannot be overstated. By wielding two Gatling Guns, you can maintain a continuous stream of firepower to effectively take down bosses throughout the entire game.
Songbirds
After completing Mission 11, players can unlock and purchase the powerful Songbirds grenade launchers for 182,000 COAM each. With their ability to fire two grenades in rapid succession, these weapons provide a devastating punch. By equipping them to the rear shoulders, players can eliminate most regular enemies with a single shot. Additionally, the Songbirds can be used to stagger numerous bosses quickly. However, it's important to note that these grenade launchers have significant recoil, requiring lighter ACs to pause momentarily after firing.
Zimmerman Shotgun
The Zimmerman Shotgun is available for purchase once you finish Mission 14: Ocean Crossing in Chapter 2. Each shotgun costs 115,000 COAM and they are definitely worth the price. Using two Zimmermans simultaneously is highly effective when facing most bosses in the game. These shotguns have a long range but can only fire one shot before requiring a quick reloading sequence. For challenging battles, consider experimenting with different combinations of weapons from this selection.
Armored Core 6 is currently accessible on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
