Horror Story God Rolls for PvE and PvP

The Festival of the Lost 2023's Horror Story offers an excellent perk combo, Dynamic Sway Reduction/Target Lock, for PvP. While the latter perk has undergone some changes, it remains a popular choice for players with good aim. While it doesn't decrease the weapon's time-to-kill (TTK), it does increase body shot damage, making it more forgiving.

For 6v6 PvP matches, Frenzy and Adrenaline Junkie are both enjoyable perks to utilize. These perks respectively reduce Horror Story's optimal TTK to 0.67 and 0.53 (assuming Adrenaline Junkie has maximum stacks). When paired with Smallbore and Accurized Rounds, these perks provide an effective range of up to 32m along with decent Handling.

As for PvE, almost every perk in Horror Story's fourth column is top-tier. These perks are:

Collective Action

Headstone

Target Lock

Cascade Point

Frenzy

Adrenaline Junkie

Vorpal Weapon

Recommendations for an optimal PvE god roll vary, as all options mentioned in enhancing the weapon's DPS when activated. However, Frenzy, Adrenaline Junkie, and Target Lock stand out as the most reliable choices due to their ease of activation from a neutral position. Unlike alternatives like breaking Stasis crystals or utilizing elemental pickups, these perks remain active for longer periods.

That being said, there are arguments to be made for the viability of Collective Action and Headstone. These perks prove highly effective when incorporated into ability-focused builds. In particular, Headstone holds significant value for Precision Frame Auto Rifles, as they excel at securing headshot kills. Additionally, the ability to shatter Stasis crystals compensates for Horror Story's lower rate of fire, enabling more efficient elimination of groups of enemies.

Regardless of the chosen damage perk, the most optimal combination would be to pair it with either Enlightened Action or Demolitionist. Enlightened Action enhances reload speed and Handling, while Demolitionist automatically reloads the weapon upon grenade throw and grants Grenade energy upon defeating targets.

Demolitionist and Adrenaline Junkie synergize exceptionally well, even for players not utilizing grenade builds. It is recommended to keep a Horror Story with these two perks together, as they have a strong synergy.

Destiny 2 is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
