In Diablo 4, the Barbarian class has garnered much attention for its popular builds such as infinite Whirlwind and million-damage Hammer of the Ancients. However, it can be challenging to find a non-meta setup that can effectively keep players alive in the endgame. Despite this, there are a few strategies that can make lesser-used skills viable, even on Torment difficulty.
The Barbarian's Brawl skills transform the slow and powerful Diablo 4 warrior into a formidable force, capable of stunning enemies based on the environment and possessing high mobility. While builds centered around these skills may not be as competitive as the favored triple Shout setups, they offer a more enjoyable and interactive gameplay experience. This makes them particularly appealing to players who are seeking to add some excitement to their Barbarian journey. Below, we present an endgame Brawl build that excels at clearing Torment-level content, including low-tier Nightmare Dungeons.
Diablo 4: Barbarian Brawl Build
Furious Double Swing is a suitable alternative Core Skill for players aiming to maintain a constant state of Berserk. However, Battle Lunging Strike and Furious Hammer of the Ancients serve as the primary sources of damage in this build due to their substantial base damage.
Power Leap and Mighty Kick are the main Brawl abilities utilized in this scenario. They have a synergistic effect thanks to one of the Legendary Aspects mentioned below, offering Crowd Control, increased mobility, and defensive capabilities. The strategy involves using Leap to position oneself, striking an enemy into a wall with a powerful Kick, and then swiftly Leaping onto them once more.
In addition, Charge provides even greater mobility and damage potential, although it may present challenges when facing enemies with high levels of Crowd Control. As an alternative, Rallying Cry can be substituted to gain the Unstoppable buff, enhancing survivability.
Softening enemies before delivering a lethal blow, Death Blow serves as the primary method for the build to enter a state of Berserk. By constantly replenishing the skill's charges, it not only ensures sustained power but also proves to be an effective tool for dealing significant damage to dungeon bosses.
Passive Skills
Skills | Points |
Imposing Presence | 1 |
Aggressive Resistance | 3 |
Prolific Fury | 3 |
Pit Fighter | 3 |
No Mercy | 3 |
Hamstring | 1 |
Wallop | 3 |
Tempered Fury | 3 |
Invigorating Fury | 3 |
Unconstrained | 1 |
Two-Handed Axe Expertise |
In many late-game Barbarian builds, the aforementioned skills are commonly used. Nonetheless, if players opt to utilize Double Swing instead of Hammer of the Ancients, it is recommended to replace Wallop with either Slaying Strikes or Duelist.
It is crucial to highlight that Aggressive Resistance and Prolific Fury are essential in this particular build due to their exceptional bonuses. By consistently achieving kills with Death Blow, players can acquire a semi-permanent boost to Fury generation and damage reduction.
Take the Two-Handed Axe Expertise for the extra Vulnerable damage, then take Unconstrained as the Key Passive. This can be swapped out for Walking Arsenal or Unbridled Rage.
Gear and Aspects
Offense | Defense | Utility |
Edgemaster (Two-Handed Weapon) | Disobedience (Helm) | Eluding (Gloves) |
Encroaching Wrath (Two-Handed Weapon) | Steadfast Berserker (Chest) | Perpetual Stomping (Boots) |
Ancestral Force (One-Handed Weapon) | Bul-Kathos (Pants) | Bear Clan Berserker (Ring) |
Rapid (One-Handed Weapon) | Giant Strides (Ring) | |
Veteran Brawler (Amulet) |
The success of this build heavily depends on the synergy between the Aspects. The player's ability to deal damage and stay alive will largely hinge on this, therefore it is crucial to strictly adhere to the recommended setup mentioned earlier.
In the absence of Challenging Shout, Aspect of Bul-Kathos compensates by providing additional area-of-effect damage, along with increased damage reduction as long as players remain within the Earthquake it generates. With the aid of Giant Strides and Perpetual Stomping, players can freely utilize Leap without worrying about its cooldown, enabling them to unleash numerous Earthquakes throughout the entire battlefield.
Steadfast Berserker, Disobedience, and Eluding are essential defensive Aspects that players must prioritize. These Aspects provide the benefits of Fortify, increased damage reduction, and a crucial stunbreak ability to escape immobilization.
By utilizing Encroaching Wrath, players can amplify the damage output of Death Blow, doubling its destructive potential. Additionally, the Edgemaster Aspect bestows Furious Hammer of the Ancients with an additional damage multiplier, enhancing its devastating impact. Alternatively, players can opt for Retribution, which delivers more stunning effects and heightened damage against stunned adversaries. However, this choice requires players to strategically maneuver and kick enemies into walls to fully exploit its benefits.
Paragon Boards
Choosing the Exploit Glyph on the starting board and equipping Warbringer as the initial attachment enhances the damage dealt by Hammer of the Ancients. Additionally, it increases the generation of Fortify and Fury.
Opting for the Blood Rage board as a subsequent choice is highly recommended due to its advantageous Berserking bonuses. It proves to be beneficial in various scenarios, granting players its advantages regardless of the weapon type or Core Skill they opt for.
In terms of additional Glyphs, players should choose the ones that best suit their individual needs. Disembowel can effectively shorten cooldowns, Bloodfeeder enhances the chances of critical strikes, Territorial provides greater damage reduction, and many more options exist.
Diablo 4 is currently accessible on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
