Peacock's adaptation of Twisted Metal concludes with a thrilling hint for the next season and unveils the characters set to participate in the titular tournament orchestrated by Calypso. Serving as a prequel, season 1 of Twisted Metal introduces the key figures of the franchise before diving into the intense race itself. In the games, Twisted Metal is an exhilarating tournament organized by the seemingly otherworldly Calypso, who convenes the finest drivers for a ruthless death race. The victor is then rewarded with a wish granted by Calypso, fulfilling their deepest desires.

Of course, in a cruel twist, Calypso often perverts their desires in horribly ironic ways. The season 1 finale of Twisted Metal reveals that John Doe (played by Anthony Mackie) discovers the true motive behind his delivery: it was simply a test of his driving skills for Raven (portrayed by Neve Campbell), the COO of New San Francisco. In the final scene, he learns that Raven wants him to compete in her tournament, and the camera cuts to a shot of Calypso, the organizer, pinning pictures of the participants for the upcoming race onto a board.

8 John Doe

When it comes to Calypso's Twisted Metal selection, it's only natural to start with John Doe himself. Initially, John takes on the role of a modest "milkman," responsible for delivering packages to different enclosed cities like New San Francisco or New Chicago. In the very first scene of the show, we witness John outmaneuver and annihilate his attackers while driving his beloved car, Evelin. Equipped with dual machine guns and later on a rocket launcher, Evelin proves to be a formidable weapon. Although John exhibits defensive skills in combat, his primary strategy revolves around evading peril. In order to survive the tournament in Twisted Metal season 2, John will need to tap into his inherent aggression.

7 Miranda Watts

Calypso also attaches a picture of Miranda Watts, portrayed by Jamie Neumann, to his racer board. Watts serves as the commander of a convoy of constantly moving trucks, comprising a group of survivors. Furthermore, she is romantically involved with florist Amber Rose, played by Diany Rodriguez. In the first season, Watts forms an alliance with John and Quiet, portrayed by Stephanie Beatriz, and in the finale, she competes in the "Twister" race to assist them. The "Twister" is renowned for being one of the fastest race cars in the competition, although its armor is notably feeble. Although Watts has already showcased her impressive racing skills in the previous season, speed alone might not guarantee success in the forthcoming contest.

6 Amber Rose

In the final episode of Twisted Metal, titled "SHNGRLA," Amber's photo is added to the board, although it may be a little difficult to see. Despite being a part of the grand finale setpiece, it is unclear how she would fare in the titular contest. In Twisted Metal III, Amber drove a car known as "Flower Power," which is momentarily glimpsed in the show. In the game, Amber portrayed an environmentalist who participated in the competition in order to utilize her wish and prevent its recurrence.

5 Preacher

Episode 8 introduced yet another prominent character from the Twisted Metal video game franchise - the infamous Preacher. However, this rendition of Preacher sets itself apart from previous versions. Portrayed by the talented Jason Mantzoukas, Preacher emerges as the formidable leader of a gang known as The Holy Men. Unlike his previous game appearances, this incarnation of Preacher is notably more hedonistic and untamed, even harboring plans to engage in an intimate affair with John's beloved car, Evelin. In the game Twisted Metal: Black, Preacher maneuvered a 1964 Chevrolet El Camino, aptly named "Brimstone." Regrettably, this iconic vehicle has remained absent from subsequent releases. Thus, we can only hope that Twisted Metal season 2 will reintroduce and revive this beloved relic, much to the delight of fans.

4 Axel

Axel, a striking addition to the Twisted Metal TV series, possesses a daring design that sets him apart from other game characters. In his youth, Axel's father secured his arms and legs to a colossal, two-wheeled contraption, compelling him to participate in Calypso's Twisted Metal tournament as his only means of liberation. During the final montage featuring the drivers, a mere glimpse from behind captures the essence of Axel's contraption in the live-action adaptation.

3 Bloody Mary

Bloody Mary, portrayed by Chloe Fineman, is a prominent character in episode 7 of Twisted Metal titled "NUTH0UZ." She holds a past relationship with John and emerges as a source of conflict as the story unfolds. Initially amicable towards both John and Quiet, Mary becomes envious of their blossoming romance and John's intention to retire. To further her own ulterior motives, she cunningly engineers a chaotic bar fight with the intention of stealing their enigmatic package. Although Mary seemingly perishes after being struck by an axe in the chest, the fact that Calypso exhibits her photograph on his racer's board hints otherwise.

2 Mr. Grimm

Mr Grimm is a unique character in the Twisted Metal series, having appeared in every title. He is frequently portrayed as the embodiment of the Grim Reaper. In the original game, he arrived to claim Calypso's soul. Over time, his appearance has undergone several revamps. In Twisted Metal: Black, he was portrayed as a former soldier who fashioned a helmet from the skull of his fallen comrade. In the 2012 reinvention of Mr. Grimm, he is depicted as a ruthless killer and the leader of a motorcycle gang, with a skull painted on his face.

1 Other Potential Twisted Metal Racers

Although they are not featured on the roster of competitors in Calypso's board, it is highly likely that two additional characters from the Twisted Metal universe will participate in the tournament. One of the most prominent contenders is Sweet Tooth, played by Samoa Joe, a fearsome serial killer who somewhat became an ally to John and Quiet after their fateful encounter in Las Vegas. Sweet Tooth maneuvers a formidable Ice Cream van armed with an assortment of deadly weapons. Despite enduring the loss of an eye and being struck by a jeep during the finale of the first season, his survival was confirmed in the mid-credit scene.

In Twisted Metal's ending, a new character named Dollface, John Doe's long-lost sister, is introduced. She leads a gang known as The Dolls. Within the games, there are two versions of Dollface. One version depicts her as an innocent assistant who was confined to wear her distinctive mask by a merciless boss. The other version portrays her as a conceited supermodel. With a revamped backstory, Dollface will become a significant character in Twisted Metal season 2. It is anticipated that if they are compelled to compete against each other, she and John will likely clash.
