Is Gal Gadot Returning As Wonder Woman In the DC Universe?
There have been conflicting updates regarding Wonder Woman 3 since the announcement of the new DC Universe. Initially, Gal Gadot indicated that the project was actively being developed. However, director Patty Jenkins clarified that she was no longer involved in Wonder Woman 3 despite her initial desire to complete the trilogy. Shortly after, Gal Gadot mentioned that she had met with James Gunn and Peter Safran from DC Studios to discuss Wonder Woman 3, and it was concluded that Gadot would eventually reprise her role as Wonder Woman. However, other reports contradict this statement, claiming that Wonder Woman 3 is not progressing in any capacity.
The only confirmed project in the DC Universe related to Wonder Woman is Paradise Lost, which was announced alongside other movies and shows in the franchise's first chapter, "Gods and Monsters". Paradise Lost will center around Themyscira and the Amazons, likely taking place before Diana Prince transforms into Wonder Woman. With the introduction of new versions of Superman and Batman in Superman: Legacy and The Brave and the Bold, respectively, it is likely that a new actor will be cast as Wonder Woman as well. The DC Universe aims to start a fresh franchise, and major connections to the DCEU will likely be severed.
Henry Cavill has officially announced his return as Superman following his appearance in the post-credits scene of Black Adam. However, the announcement of a full reboot and a new actor for Superman: Legacy appears to contradict Cavill's statement. Similarly, Gal Gadot's previous remarks regarding her potential return as Wonder Woman may no longer be valid, as the casting process for a new Wonder Woman actor could be stalled until the development of Paradise Lost progresses. Only at that point will new names start to circulate as potential candidates, including Alexandra Daddario.
