Final Fantasy 14 is expanding the Duty Support system to include all dungeons leading up to the Shadowbringers expansion, making the entire story almost completely soloable.
The Trust system, now known as the Duty Support system, enables players to undertake previous Main Scenario dungeons with NPC allies rather than real players.
In the upcoming update, the expansion of the Duty Support system will grant players the opportunity to tackle all dungeons from A Realm Reborn, Heavensward, and Stormblood individually, excluding specific Trials and the Crystal Tower Alliance raid series.
The Duty Support system in Final Fantasy 14 is being expanded to include all duties leading up to the Shadowbringers expansion. With this upcoming update, players will have the opportunity to solo nearly the entire story of Final Fantasy 14.
In the Shadowbringers expansion, the Trust system was introduced, allowing players to tackle dungeons essential to the Main Scenario alongside NPC allies instead of real players. In Endwalker, this system has been renamed the Duty Support system, and subsequent patches have extended its functionality to include older Main Scenario dungeons.
In Growing Light, a major content update for Final Fantasy 14 set to release in October, the Duty Support system will be expanded further. This expansion will now include all the patch content from Stormblood, allowing players to solo clear every dungeon from A Realm Reborn, Heavensward, and Stormblood. With the inclusion of Duty Support in the Main Scenario dungeons from Shadowbringers onwards, the only parts of the story that still require players to party up are certain 8-man Trials and the 24-man Crystal Tower Alliance raid series.
Similar to previous expansions of the Duty Support system, these remaining Stormblood dungeons will allow players to fight alongside beloved NPCs like Arenvald and J'moldva. These characters will have new dialogue and interactions, creating a stronger bond for new players as they experience the game for the first time, while also providing additional content for veterans to enjoy.
Fans have eagerly anticipated the realization of this long-term project. The Duty Support system has gained immense popularity since its introduction, largely due to the captivating cast of characters from Final Fantasy 14. The inclusion of innovative ways for players to witness these characters in action is impressive, and the provision of opportunities for solo players to immerse themselves in the remarkable storyline of Final Fantasy 14 can only attract a larger player base.
Moreover, Growing Light has extended the free trial of Final Fantasy 14 to encompass the Stormblood expansion. As if that wasn't enough, Final Fantasy 14 will also be available on the Xbox Series X/S next spring, conveniently coinciding with the eagerly awaited Dawntrail expansion, which is set to feature long-awaited graphics enhancements and is planned for release in the summer of 2024. There is currently an abundance of exciting developments in Final Fantasy 14, and more players than ever before are about to seize the opportunity to explore this critically acclaimed MMORPG.
Final Fantasy 14 is available now for PC, PS4, and PS5, with an Xbox Series X/S version coming in Spring 2024.
