In Cyberpunk 2077, players are presented with numerous choices throughout each story mission, which can have implications on character relationships and the rewards received by V. It is advisable to have multiple save files ready in case an unintended outcome occurs during a quest.
Early in the game's prologue, players have the option to undertake their first optional objective by interacting with a Militech Corpo named Meredith Stout and deciding whether to work for her or not. This decision will have consequences on V's relationship with Stout later on, following the completion of the heist. Choosing to collaborate with Stout will grant players an encrypted shard, which can be hacked open to reveal its contents. Below are the steps to decrypt the Militech Datashard in Cyberpunk 2077.
How to Get the Militech Shard
Find the Encrypted Datashard in the Inventory
After meeting with Dexter Deshaun, V and Dexter must make preparations during the "The Pickup" quest before the Heist. Their objective is to retrieve the Flathead robot that has been taken by the Maelstrom gang. Additionally, players have the option to meet Meredith Stout, the Militech Official responsible for the robot's loss. She will request assistance from the player, requiring them to pay with the Militech Datashard. Successfully cooperating with Meredith will enable V to have a short romantic encounter with her later on. Players can choose to trust her and hand over the shard to Maelstrom, in order to observe the consequences of this decision. If players are curious about the contents of the shard, they can open their inventory. The journal tab will drop down to reveal a shard tab.
To access the desired information, click on this tab and navigate to the bottom section. Recent improvements have simplified the identification of encrypted shards, which are now conveniently categorized under their own dedicated tab. Locate the specific Militech shard by selecting this tab and proceed to uncover the encrypted message.
Decrypting Decision
Press Triangle/Y to decrypt the shard, initiating the breach protocol hacking minigame. Players must input the sequences on the right by selecting alternating rows and columns. It appears that the chip has been infected with malware. If the chip is given to the Maelstrom computers during the transaction, the malware will attack their systems. Successfully matching the first sequence will eliminate the malware from the chip, allowing players to trade it for the flathead. Matching the second sequence will generate a duplicate of the malware, which players can utilize in their cyberdeck. Players have the option to perform both actions and will be rewarded with 10,000 credits along with the malware.
The decrypted message reveals that the shard belongs to Militech. Stay vigilant for additional encrypted shards within Night City.
