Sega has officially announced that the highly anticipated game, Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, is set to release on January 26, 2024. The game will be available on PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One. Serving as a direct sequel to the seventh installment in the series, the renaming of the game has created some confusion. Like a Dragon once again follows the journey of Ichiban Kasuga, a former member of the Yakuza, as he travels to Hawaii in search of his long-lost mother. However, Kasuga won't be undertaking this mission alone. The beloved protagonist from previous games, Kazuma Kiryu, will be by his side. Unfortunately, Kiryu reveals that he has been diagnosed with cancer, giving him a limited amount of time left. Determined to make amends for his past, Kiryu is committed to assisting Kasuga in finding his mother. The task becomes more challenging as local gangs are also in pursuit of Kasuga's mother. Like its predecessor, Yakuza 7, Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth incorporates an RPG battle system inspired by Kasuga's fondness for Dragon Quest. The developers, Ryu Ga Gotoku, have worked to refine the battle system, making it more strategic for this sequel.

New job classes like Samurai, Desperado, Geodancer, Pyrodancer, Housekeeper, Action Star, and Sujimancer have been added, providing more options for gameplay. Additionally, players can once again rely on powerful assistance from Poundmates in moments of desperation. If you've ever had the peculiar desire to witness a colossal man-baby or murderous lobsters wreak havoc on local gangsters, this game will fulfill that unusual request.

Similar to previous games developed by Ryu Ga Gotoku, there will be a wide range of minigames to enjoy alongside the main storyline. Among these is Crazy Delivery, a unique blend of Crazy Taxi and the gig industry, where Kasuga showcases his delivery skills on a bicycle. Sujimon combines elements of Pokemon and professional wrestling, while Karaoke makes its return for those who want to belt out their favorite tunes.
